Finnmark FD-2 Full-Spectrum Infrared Sauna Review

The Finnmark FD-2 is a two-person indoor infrared sauna. Universe of Comfort sells it as a home full-spectrum infrared sauna that combines two kinds of heater: Finnmark's UL-listed Spectrum Plus panels and its Spectrum Carbon 360 panels. The cabin is lined with Western Canadian cedar inside and clad in Thermo-Aspen outside, with an 8 mm tempered glass door.

It runs on 120 V at 15 A through a standard NEMA 5-15P plug, according to the retailer The Sauna Heater, so it doesn't need the 240 V circuit that many traditional sauna heaters require. Finnmark says its standard infrared saunas reach a maximum of 170 °F in under an hour.

Outside, the FD-2 measures 48 × 44 × 78 inches; inside, 43 × 40 × 70 inches, or about 70 cubic feet. It weighs 393 lb. Universe of Comfort gives a 441 lb shipping weight including the pallet, while The Sauna Heater lists about 475 lb, so plan for a heavy delivery. The door is about 23.6 inches wide and 67.9 inches tall. The Sauna Heater describes assembly as pre-built panels with minimal hardware, a job for two people in an afternoon.

Universe of Comfort lists the FD-2 at $5,995 (compared with $6,594), with free shipping and, in its current promotion, a $150 gift card and a Finnmark backrest the store values at $89. It ships to the US and Canada only. The sauna travels on a pallet by LTL or flatbed truck for curbside delivery, which doesn't include bringing it into your home.

Finnmark says its warranty covers the entire sauna for 10 years and its Spectrum Plus heaters for life. Returns need care: Finnmark advertises a 30-day guarantee on its own sales, but Universe of Comfort's product page lists complete saunas as non-returnable and says delivery fees aren't refunded. Confirm the store's policy before ordering.

At Universe of Comfort, Finnmark's FD-1 (one person, $4,695) and FD-3 (four people, $6,495) sit either side of the FD-2, and Erommy's 3–4 person infrared saunas start at $2,399.99 if price matters more than Finnmark's dual-heater design. For a traditional sauna, the store also sells Dundalk's outdoor cedar cabins and barrels from $5,595.

The trade-offs are the price for a two-person cabin, the tight interior for two adults, and the store's no-return policy on complete saunas. It also tops out at 170 °F with no stove, so buyers who want to pour water on hot stones should look at a stove-heated sauna instead.
