Our verdict

Desktop users who want a CD player, DAC and headphone amplifier in one unit, with XLR and RCA line-outs, are the buyers the PL200 MK2 at $599 is aimed at. Look elsewhere if you need a portable player or measured data: the 1.5W and 0.000079% figures are the page's own claims. Anyone who only wants a transport should compare it with the PL200T.

Why 3.5/5: Held back by the store's own terms contradicting each other and by every figure being the store's own, with no independent test checked for this review.

Priced at $599, the SMSL PL200 MK2 combines a CD player, an ES9039Q2M DAC and a headphone amplifier in one desktop unit. The page lists a 32-Bit DAC chipset decoding up to 32-Bit/768kHz and DSD512, a headphone amplifier rated at 1.5W per channel at 16Ω, RCA and XLR line-outs, 3.5mm and 4.4mm headphone outputs, and Bluetooth V5.1 that works as both input and output.

Options and pricing

The listing has one option, PL200 MK2, at $599, orderable when the page was read. The page writes the model name as PL200 MK2 and PL200 MKII, and shows no color or plug choice. It lists a weight of 1.579Kg/3.48lbs and a power consumption of 10W, but the page text lists no box contents.

How it compares

The SMSL PL200T MQA-CD Transport is $499 from the same brand and is described around digital interface functions; the PL200 MK2 costs $599 and its page lists its own DAC chip, a headphone amplifier and a Pure Transport Mode that bypasses them. The SHANLING EC3 Top-Loading ES9219C DAC Chip Compact Hi-Fi CD Player is also $599 and is described with a Philips CD80 drive. The DUNU CONCEPT R R2R Portable CD Player is $749.99. The PL200 MK2 suits a desktop that wants line-outs and a 1.5W (16Ω) headphone amplifier in one box.

Shipping, returns and warranty

HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.

Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.

HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.

On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.

What we liked

  • ES9039Q2M 32-bit DAC chip decoding up to 32-Bit/768kHz and DSD512, per the page
  • Headphone amplifier rated at 1.5W per channel at 16Ω in the feature list, with two gain levels
  • XLR and RCA line-outs, coaxial and optical digital outputs, 3.5mm and 4.4mm headphone outputs
  • Pure Transport Mode bypasses the internal analog stages for use with an external DAC
  • Bluetooth V5.1 for input and output, with LDAC and aptX HD listed
  • Weight (1.579Kg/3.48lbs), power consumption (10W) and standby power (below 0.5W) are stated

Worth noting

  • The page text gives no frequency response, SNR or output impedance figures; the only noise-related figure is a distortion rate with no conditions stated
  • The text gives up to 1.5W per channel with no load stated, while the feature list adds 16Ω; neither names the headphone jack
  • The patented headphone amplifier and clock circuit are claims with no patent details in the page text
  • The Bluetooth chipset is described only as a Qualcomm high-end chipset, with no model named in the page text

Questions before you buy

What headphone power does the SMSL PL200 MK2 list?

The feature list gives a maximum of 1.5W per channel at 16Ω with two-level gain adjustment; the text repeats up to 1.5W per channel with no load stated. The headphone outputs are 3.5mm and 4.4mm, and the page text does not say which one the figure applies to.

Can the PL200 MK2 be used as a transport only?

Yes, per the page: Pure Transport Mode bypasses the internal analog circuits, including DAC conversion, operational amplifiers and headphone amplification, and the page lists coaxial and optical digital outputs.

Which Bluetooth codecs does it list?

The feature list names a Qualcomm Bluetooth chipset with LDAC and aptX HD support, plus Bluetooth V5.1. The text says it takes Bluetooth input and can send CD and USB audio to Bluetooth headphones or speakers.

Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?

From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.

Can I send it back if I change my mind?

HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.

What warranty does HiFiGO give?

One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify

  • The feature list gives 1.5W per channel at 16Ω, while the text says up to 1.5W per channel with no load stated; neither names the 3.5mm or 4.4mm jack, and the 0.000079% distortion rate has no stated conditions.
  • The page text calls the headphone amplifier circuit and the CK-03 clock circuit patented without giving patent details, and says the clock circuit eliminates jitter with no measurement.
  • The model name appears as PL200 MK2 and PL200 MKII in the page and MK II in the store title; the Bluetooth chipset is named only as a Qualcomm high-end chipset.
  • HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
  • HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
