How to choose Wi-Fi Security Cameras
A Wi-Fi security camera sends video over your home network to an app, so compare the picture, the view, the night mode and whether it can join your Wi-Fi band. The four Qsee cameras here are all indoor pan-tilt models. Resolution runs from 2MP (1920×1080) on the Hestia 2MP to 4MP on the Hestia 4A (2560×1440) and 4T (listed as 2056×1440), and 5MP (2880×1620) on the Ares SE. All four list H.265, a compression format that keeps video files smaller, at 15 frames per second (fps) on the Hestias and 20 fps on the Ares SE. The lens is fixed at 3.6 or 4 mm with a 90° to 105° view, and pan runs 340° to 355°. Listed prices when reviewed on October 23, 2026 were $15.99 (2MP), $29.99 (4T), $79.99 (4A) and from $159.99 (Ares SE).
Tilt and night vision are where the listings disagree with themselves. The Ares SE gives tilt as 90° in its spec table and 55° in its text, and the Hestia 4T as 75° in its text and 110° in its table; the 4A lists 45° and the 2MP 75°. Night vision ranges are 3 to 7 m on the Ares SE and 4A and 5 to 8 m on the 2MP and 4T, with copy figures of 25 feet (Ares SE, 4A) and 26.3 feet (2MP); only the 4T adds warm LEDs for color at night. The 4T lists person and sound detection as well as motion, the 2MP's table lists neither, and the Ares SE lists motion and human detection as off by default. Storage is the same on all four: a microSD card up to 128 GB, not included, or Qsee's cloud, a subscription whose price the Hestia pages do not give.
Every camera here is sold by Qsee Technology, a California company founded in 2022 that owns the Q-See trademark. Shipping is free to the continental US and Hawaii only, from California, 2 to 7 business days after 1 to 3 business days of processing. The returns page accepts unopened items within 15 days, down from 30, while the product-page badge still says 30-day return; you pay return freight, and a rejected return costs a 15% restocking fee. Defects must be reported within 30 days. The warranty is 2 years when bought from Qsee's site or its Amazon stores, for the original purchaser only. Qsee says it does not support old Q-See products, servers, apps or warranties, and old cameras cannot be added to the new Qsee Smart Home app. A company notice dated December 17, 2024 says app and cloud services were disrupted while data moved to a new cloud server.
Look elsewhere if you need an outdoor camera: all four are sold as indoor models, and the three Hestia pages list plastic housings and no weatherproof rating. The Ares SE page also lists a fall warning feature without saying how it works or how reliable it is, or whether it can stand in for a medical alert service. The Ares SE and Hestia 4A pages showed no buyer reviews on October 18, 2026, store-page reviews of the 2MP and 4T include complaints about unanswered support emails (a small sample), and we found no independent test of any of the four. No page says who makes the hardware or carries an NDAA or FCC covered-equipment statement.

Questions before you buy
What do megapixels and fps mean on a security camera listing?
Megapixels (MP) count the pixels in each frame: these four list 2MP (1920×1080), 4MP (2560×1440 on the Hestia 4A, 2056×1440 on the 4T) and 5MP (2880×1620). Frames per second (fps) is how many images the camera records each second: 15 on the Hestias and 20 on the Ares SE. All list H.265 compression. These are Qsee's figures; we have not seen the footage and found no independent test.
Will a Wi-Fi security camera work on 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
The Hestia 2MP lists 2.4 GHz only (802.11 b/g/n, 150 Mbps max), so it cannot join a 5 GHz-only network. The Ares SE, Hestia 4A and Hestia 4T list both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, and the Ares SE adds Bluetooth for pairing. Check your router's bands against the page of the camera you pick.
Do these cameras need a subscription?
Each can record to a microSD card up to 128 GB, which is not included, or to Qsee's cloud. Qsee's Download Center says the cloud is a subscription, and the Hestia product pages publish no price for it. The cameras depend on Qsee's app and cloud, which the company notice says were disrupted in December 2024.
How far can these cameras see in the dark?
The spec tables list 3 to 7 m for the Ares SE (eight 940 nm IR LEDs) and Hestia 4A (eight IR LEDs), and 5 to 8 m for the Hestia 2MP (six IR LEDs) and 4T (IR plus warm LEDs for color). The copy says 25 feet for the Ares SE and 4A and 26.3 feet for the 2MP. These are the maker's figures, and we found no independent test of any of them.
Is Qsee the same company as Q-See?
It owns the name but is a newer company. Qsee Technology is a California company founded in 2022 that bought the Q-See trademark. It says it does not support old Q-See products, servers, apps or warranties, and old cameras cannot be added to the new Qsee Smart Home app. Buying from Qsee's site or its Amazon stores keeps the 2-year warranty valid.
What are Qsee's return and warranty terms?
The returns page accepts unopened, unused items within 15 days of delivery, down from 30, though the product-page badge still says 30-day return, so confirm with support. You pay return freight, and a rejected return costs a 15% restocking fee plus freight. Defects must be reported within 30 days. The warranty is 2 years from Qsee's site or its Amazon stores, original purchaser only.
