Our verdict

A fit for listeners who already own a balanced 2.5mm cable and want a USB DAC/amp with a spec section of figures and conditions, from $100. Look elsewhere if your headphones end in 3.5mm plugs and you rely on adaptors, if you want one consistent set of figures, or if you need a battery-powered unit. The main caveat is that the page's text and spec section give different figures for the same things.

Why 3.6/5: Lifted by a specification section with figures and loads for power, noise and distortion. Held back by the store's own terms that contradict each other and because no independent test of this model was checked for this review.

E1DA's Susumu3000 edition of the 9038SG3 is a USB DAC and headphone amp built on the ES9038Q2M chip, listed from $100. Its page carries a spec section: a balanced 2.5mm output, over 340mW at 32Ohm, 10g, 48x22x9mm and no internal battery. The same page also describes the third-generation 9038SG3 changes and the earlier 9038S in one text, so some figures appear twice and do not always match.

Options and pricing

Two options are listed: the 9038SG3 Susumu3000 at $100 and the DAC with a C to C cable at $103, both orderable when the page was read. The page text does not describe the cable, its length or its connectors. It warns that no 2.5/3.5mm jack adaptors are allowed and that they can kill the DAC, and says iOS and Android devices need a Camera_Adapter and a USB OTG Y-splitter cable respectively to start OTG operation.

How it compares

The HiBy FC5 2025 With Display Dual CS43198 Portable USB DAC&AMP and the xDuoo LINK10 Dual CS43131 USB DAC & AMP are both $99 against $100 here; their titles name dual CS43198 and dual CS43131 chips, where this page names an ES9038Q2M. The LINK10 line lists PCM 32Bit/384kHz and Native DSD256, the range the E1DA text claims, while the E1DA spec section says PCM up to 24b/192kHz. The Muse HiFi M3 Ultra ES9028Q2M Vacuum Tube Portable DAC & Headphone AMP is $104.99. Choose the E1DA only if your cable is balanced 2.5mm, since the page text lists no other output.

Shipping, returns and warranty

HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.

Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.

HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.

On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.

What we liked

  • Spec section gives power at two loads, noise, dynamic range, crosstalk and THD, with conditions
  • Measures 48x22x9mm and weighs 10g per the spec section
  • Balanced 2.5mm output with an output impedance listed (0.05 Ohm in the spec section)
  • Priced from $100, with a C to C cable option at $103
  • Standby mode and USB firmware update described for the 9038SG3

Worth noting

  • The only output the page text lists is a balanced 2.5mm jack with A&K pinout, and the page text says no 2.5/3.5mm jack adaptors are allowed
  • Text and spec section disagree on input rates, frequency response and output impedance
  • The page mixes 9038SG3 and 9038S Gen1-2 text, so it is unclear which generation the spec section describes
  • No internal battery; iOS hosts need a Camera_Adapter and Android hosts a USB OTG Y-splitter cable
  • The Tweak app is described as delayed, so features that depend on it are unconfirmed

Questions before you buy

What output does the E1DA 9038SG3 have?

The spec section lists a balanced output on a 2.5mm jack with A&K pinout. The page text says no 2.5/3.5mm jack adaptors are allowed and that they can kill the DAC.

What power does it list, and at what load?

The spec section lists over 340mW at 32Ohm and over 550mW at 16Ohm, both at 1kHz and THD=1%. The 16Ohm line adds a +.5dbFS level and a typical PC USB2 port as the power source.

Does it have a battery, and what does it need to run?

The page says it takes power from the USB 5V rail and has no internal battery. It adds that iOS devices need a Camera_Adapter and Android devices a USB OTG Y-splitter cable to start OTG operation. The $103 option is listed as the DAC and a C to C cable.

Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?

From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.

Can I send it back if I change my mind?

HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.

What warranty does HiFiGO give?

One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify

  • The text says 32/384 and DSD256 input, 10-100000Hz response and 100mohm output impedance; the spec section says PCM up to 24b/192kHz, 10-85kHz and 0.05 Ohm.
  • The page mixes 9038SG3 text with 9038S Gen1-2 text (10g, 550mW@16ohm, four modes) while saying the G3 keeps only Performance mode; the page text does not say which generation the spec section covers or what the Susumu3000 edition is.
  • The E1DA Tweak app is described as delayed and the firmware file is promised to app users; the page links an outside forum thread about the 9038S BAL and the page text does not say whether it covers the 9038SG3.
  • HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
  • HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
