E1DA 9038SG3 Susumu USB DAC/Amp Review
A small USB DAC and headphone amp with a balanced 2.5mm output, listed from $93.99, or $96.99 with a C to C cable. It suits listeners who want a very small balanced source and can work with a page whose text and specification section differ.

Our verdict
A fit for buyers who want a very small USB DAC and amp with a balanced 2.5mm output and a list of figures, and who can work with a page that mixes two product generations. Look elsewhere if you need a 3.5mm output, a wireless input or a specification section that agrees with the description. The main caveat is that the text and the specification section give different figures, and every number is the store's own.
- Best for
- Buyers who want a very small USB DAC and amp with a balanced 2.5mm output.
- Skip if
- You need a 3.5mm output or a specification section that matches the description text.
Why 3.6/5: Lifted by a 16-line specification list with figures; held back by the store's own terms contradicting each other and because no independent test of this model was checked for this review.
E1DA's 9038SG3 Susumu edition is a small USB DAC and headphone amplifier built around the ES9038Q2M chip, listed from $93.99. The page says this third generation adds a new USB bridge with 32/384 and DSD256 support, and its heading names 0.1% Susumu resistors. Its specification section, however, lists PCM up to 24b/192kHz, a 10g weight, 48x22x9mm and a balanced 2.5mm output, and the page text covers the earlier generation too.

Options and pricing
Two options are listed: the 9038SG3 Susumu at $93.99, and DAC and C to C cable at $96.99. Both could be ordered when the listing was read. The page does not describe the cable beyond its name. It asks buyers to read the FAQ it links to before buying and says no 2.5/3.5mm jack adaptors are allowed, adding that using one can ruin the DAC.
How it compares
The E1DA 9038D6K USB Headphone Amp 3.5mm Jack Unbalanced Output DAC+HPA costs $135 and its title names a 3.5mm unbalanced output, where this model lists a balanced 2.5mm jack at $93.99 or $96.99. The Fosi Audio SK02 ES9038Q2M Compact Desktop DAC and Headphone Amplifier at $84.99 names the same ES9038Q2M chip and is titled as a compact desktop unit. Pick the 9038SG3 for a very small USB source with a balanced output; pick the SK02 for a desk setup.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked
- Balanced 2.5mm output with power listed at two loads: over 340mW at 32Ohm and over 550mW at 16Ohm
- A specification section with noise, distortion, crosstalk and frequency figures and their test conditions
- Small and light: 10g and 48x22x9mm per the specification section
- The page says firmware can be updated over USB through the new USB bridge
Worth noting
- The text says 32/384 and DSD256, while the specification section says PCM up to 24b/192kHz
- Output impedance is 100mohm in the text and 0.05 Ohm in the specification section
- Only a balanced 2.5mm A&K-pinout output is listed, and the page says no 2.5/3.5mm jack adaptors are allowed
- The page says the release of its Android tweak app is delayed and gives no current status
- The page says iOS and Android devices can start OTG operation only with a Camera_Adapter and a USB OTG Y-splitter cable respectively
Questions before you buy
Which output does the 9038SG3 have?
The specification section lists a balanced 2.5mm jack with A&K pinout. The page says no 2.5/3.5mm jack adaptors are allowed and that using one can ruin the DAC.
What sample rates does it accept?
The page gives two answers. The description says the new USB bridge supports 32/384 and DSD256, while the specification section lists USB-C input with PCM up to 24b/192kHz.
How much power does it list?
Per the specification section, over 340mW at 32Ohm and over 550mW at 16Ohm, at 1kHz with THD=1%, measured at +.5dbFS from a typical PC USB2 port. It has no internal battery and takes USB 5V power.
Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?
From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.
Can I send it back if I change my mind?
HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.
What warranty does HiFiGO give?
One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify
- The text gives 32/384, DSD256, 10-100000Hz and 100mohm output impedance; the specification section gives PCM up to 24b/192kHz, 10-85kHz and 0.05 Ohm.
- The page mixes this third generation with the earlier 9038S: it lists four modes while the text says only Performance mode remains, and its specification figures (550mW at 16ohm, SNR -122db(A), THD .0002%, 10g) match the earlier model's text, though the text claims improved SNR and THD+N.
- All noise, distortion and power figures are the store's own; the page links a forum thread of measurements of the earlier 9038S that was not checked here.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
