Moondrop FreeDSP Pro DAC/Amp Cable Review
A USB Type-C earphone cable that the page describes as having a built-in CS43198 DAC and amp, listed at $129.99. It lists 0.78mm 2-pin connectors, 80mW per channel at 16Ω and app-based EQ, and suits buyers who want a DAC and amp in the cable itself.

Our verdict
Suits buyers who want a USB Type-C cable with a DAC chip, amp and app-based EQ, per the page, for earphones that take 0.78mm 2-pin connectors, at $129.99. Look elsewhere if you need a 3.5mm or 4.4mm plug, a stated cable length or an independently measured output. The main caveat is that the 127dB, 0.00017% and 80mW figures are the page's own and name no measurement source.
- Best for
- Buyers who want a USB Type-C cable with the CS43198 DAC chipset and app-based EQ for 0.78mm 2-pin earphones.
- Skip if
- You need a 3.5mm or 4.4mm plug or a stated cable length.
Why 3.5/5: Held back by the store's own terms contradicting each other, and by figures that are all the store's own, with no independent test of this model checked for this review.
Moondrop's FreeDSP Pro is a USB Type-C cable with a built-in DAC and amp according to the page, listed at $129.99. The page names a CS43198 DAC chipset, second-generation online interactive DSP run through the Moondrop Link app and a web application, a high-purity Litz single crystal copper conductor with silver alloy soldering, and 0.78mm 2-pin connectors. Its spec section lists 127dB dynamic range and 80mW per channel at 16Ω.

Options and pricing
One option is listed, FreeDSP Pro at $129.99, and it was orderable when the page was read. The page text names a USB Type-C termination and 0.78mm 2-pin connectors, and lists no plug, color or length choices. It also gives no cable length or weight, so the page shows one configuration at one price.
How it compares
The page says the FreeDSP Pro uses the same material and structure as Moondrop's Atami upgrade cable for headphones. The Moondrop Atami Single Crystal Copper + Silver Solder Litz Structure Earphone Upgrade Cable is listed from $129.99 against $129.99 here, but its name does not mention a DAC or DSP. The Effect Audio Signature Series Ares S Lite 4 Wires Earphone Cable costs $129 and its spec reads 24AWG 4 Wires. The FreeDSP Pro suits buyers who want a DAC chip and EQ app on the cable; the other two give conductor or wire details in their names and specs.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
Cables and adapters get three months of warranty from the order date, against one year for DACs, amps and IEMs; a note on the same page also excludes cables from returns for hygiene reasons, while the FAQ says a cable can come back in its original condition. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement and the buyer pays the shipping. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked
- The page names a CS43198 DAC chipset and gives 127dB dynamic range and 0.00017% THD+N at 1kHz
- Output power is given with its load: 80mW per channel at 16Ω
- The page lists 32bit/384kHz PCM and native DSD256 support
- PEQ settings through the Moondrop Link app and a web application, per the page
- Conductor named as high-purity Litz single crystal copper with silver alloy soldering
Worth noting
- No cable length or weight is stated in the page text
- The page text names only a USB Type-C termination and lists no 3.5mm or 4.4mm plug, so it needs a USB-C source
- Output power is given at one load only, 16Ω
- The figures, including 127dB dynamic range, carry no named measurement source

What we couldn’t verify
- The 127dB dynamic range, 0.00017% THD+N, 2Vrms output and 80mW per channel at 16Ω are the page's own figures; no measurement source or test setup is named.
- Statements such as zero latency, lossless transmission and reference-grade performance are claims on the page, not checked here.
- The page text gives no cable length, weight or list of compatible earphones.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
- HiFiGO's warranty page excludes cables from returns for hygiene reasons, while its FAQ says a cable can come back in its original condition.
