Our verdict

A fit for a listener who wants a 3.5mm single-ended USB-C dongle with adjustable EQ and a measurement picture credited to MOONDROP R&D centre, at $39.99. Look elsewhere if you want app tuning from an iOS device, since a footnote says it works on Android only, or if you need a balanced jack. All figures come from the store's page, including the pictured measurements.

Why 3.3/5: The rating is held back by the missing text specification list, by claims that sit in pictures (some of which were not read), by the store's own terms that contradict each other, and by no independent test checked for this review: every figure is the store's own.

Moondrop's FreeDSP Mini is a USB-C DAC and amp with a 3.5mm single-ended jack, and HiFiGO lists it at $39.99. The page's pictures name a Cirrus Logic CS43198 chip, give 80+80mW at 16Ω and 2Vrms, and describe a second-generation online DSP tuned from an app or a web page. The page has no text description, only 11 pictures, and 3 of them were not read for this review.

Options and pricing

A single option, FreeDSP Mini, is listed at $39.99 and was orderable when the page was read, so there is no color or plug choice. A pictured table gives the package list as FreeDSP Mini, Guidance Card and Certificate, and a picture states that the product does not include earphones or a mobile phone.

How it compares

At $39.99 the FreeDSP Mini costs more than the KINERA Celest CD-3 KT02H20 + OPA97220 Portable DAC/AMP at $29.99 and the FiiO JIEZI USB Type C to 3.5mm DAC & Headphone Amplifier at $14.99, and less than the FiiO KA15 Dual CS43198 Portable DAC & Headphone AMP at $109.99. The KA15's title says Dual CS43198 against the one CS43198 named here, and the Kinera's names a KT02H20 + OPA97220 pair. The FreeDSP Mini suits a buyer who wants adjustable EQ on a 3.5mm dongle; the KA15 suits one who wants the Dual CS43198 in its title and will pay $109.99.

Shipping, returns and warranty

HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.

Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.

HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.

On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.

What we liked

  • A pictured table gives 80+80mW at 16Ω with THD+N below 1%, and 2Vrms @0dBFS
  • The pictured table lists dynamic range of 127dB and THD+N of 0.00017% at 1kHz (A-wt); an APx555 picture credited to MOONDROP R&D centre shows 127.772dB and 127.794dB for dynamic range
  • PCM from 16Bit/44.1kHz up to 32Bit/384kHz and DSD256 are named in a picture
  • Online EQ with presets or a parameterized equalizer (filter type, frequency, gain, Q) plus a library of curves, per the pictures
  • A picture says no driver is needed with PC, Android or iOS
  • The pictured package list names the unit, a guidance card and a certificate

Worth noting

  • The APx555 measurement picture is credited to MOONDROP R&D centre and footnoted as no-load full amplitude, with the 80+80mW maximum at 16Ω; of the table figures, only the 80+80mW carries a load (16Ω)
  • App tuning is supported on Android only, per a footnote; iOS users can use settings preset on an Android phone
  • One picture prints 'CITA Standard Microphone' and another 'CTIA'
  • The pictures read name a 3.5mm single-ended jack as the output; no balanced output is named in them
  • Power is given only at 16Ω; no figure for other loads appears in the pictured table

Questions before you buy

What chip and output power does it list?

A picture names a Cirrus Logic CS43198 chip, and the pictured table gives 80+80mW at 16Ω with THD+N below 1% and 2Vrms at 0dBFS. The table also lists 127dB dynamic range and 0.00017% THD+N at 1kHz (A-wt), and a measurement picture credited to MOONDROP R&D centre is footnoted as no-load full amplitude, with the 80+80mW maximum at 16Ω.

How does the DSP tuning work?

The pictures say users tune with the MOONDROP APP using presets or a parameterized equalizer with filter type, frequency point, gain and Q value, and that a MOONDROP WEB page and the Android app offer one-click EQ from a chosen or uploaded curve and target. Another picture describes a library of frequency-response curves. A footnote says the app function is supported on Android only; iOS users can use settings preset on an Android phone.

Which jack and connection does it use?

The table gives a 3.5mm 4-pin jack (SE+MIC/CTIA) and a USB-C plug. A picture says it connects to phones, computers and tablets without a driver.

Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?

From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.

Can I send it back if I change my mind?

HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.

What warranty does HiFiGO give?

One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify

  • The pictured APx555 measurements are credited to MOONDROP R&D centre and footnoted as taken with a 1kHz sine wave in a no-load full amplitude state, with the 80+80mW maximum at 16Ω; of the table figures, only the 80+80mW carries a load (16Ω).
  • CONFLICT (minor): one picture prints 'CITA Standard Microphone' and another 'CTIA'. Pictures 02, 03 and 08 were not read, so the page may carry more.
  • Statements in the pictures such as superior sound quality compared with standard USB-C earphones, no loss during signal transmission and reference-level sound come with no proof here.
  • HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
  • HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
