SMSL SU-2 Desktop DAC Review
A desktop DAC with an ES9039Q2M chip, listed at $99.99. The pictured table gives AES/Coaxial/Optical inputs, RCA and XLR outputs and AC power. It suits wired setups with a source that has an AES/EBU, coaxial or optical output and an amplifier that takes RCA or XLR.

Our verdict
A fit for a wired setup with a source that has an AES/EBU, coaxial or optical output and an amplifier that takes RCA or XLR. Look elsewhere if you need a USB input, a headphone output or MQA, which the pictured legend and table do not list. The main caveat is that every figure sits in pictures, and the store's MQA tag does not match the pictured table.
- Best for
- Wired setups with an AES/EBU, coaxial or optical source and an RCA or XLR amplifier input.
- Skip if
- You need a USB input, a headphone output or MQA decoding.
Why 3.3/5: Held back by specifications that sit in pictures with no list as text, a short description, the store's own terms that contradict each other, and no independent test checked for this review, so every figure is the store's own.
SMSL's SU-2 is a desktop DAC with an ES9039Q2M chip, listed at $99.99. A table in its pictures gives AES/Coaxial/Optical inputs, RCA and XLR outputs, four OPA1612A op-amps, a CK-03 clock module and AC power. The same pictures print output levels of 4.7Vrms on XLR and 2.3Vrms on RCA, with 130dB dynamic range and SNR on XLR and 126dB on RCA.

Options and pricing
The page lists one option, SU-2 at $99.99, orderable when read, so there is no color, plug or cable choice. The pictured power input is marked AC IN 100V-240V, and the pictured table lists the power supply as AC. The pictures read for this review give no in-the-box list.
How it compares
The AOSHIDA BLAD-S5 ES9038 Bluetooth/FM Audio Receiver Converter is also $99.99 and is named a Bluetooth/FM receiver, while the FiiO BR15 R2R High-Resolution Bluetooth 6.0 Audio Receiver costs $199.99 and is named an R2R Bluetooth 6.0 receiver. The SU-2 suits a buyer with a wired digital source and an amplifier that takes RCA or XLR; the other two are named as Bluetooth receivers.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked
- A pictured table names the ES9039Q2M chip, four OPA1612A op-amps and a CK-03 clock module
- THD+N, dynamic range and SNR are given separately for the XLR and RCA outputs
- Both XLR and RCA outputs are pictured, with output levels of 4.7Vrms and 2.3Vrms
- The pictures include measurement screenshots with THD+N, SINAD, dynamic range and SNR readouts
- Size, weight and power consumption are given: 150 x 42.5 x 133.1mm, 532.6g/1.17lbs and under 2.3W
Worth noting
- The pictured table lists MQA and MQA-CD as unsupported and DSD only as DSD(64DoP)
- Digital inputs only: the pictured panel legend names AES/EBU, coaxial and optical inputs and no USB port
- The pictured panel legend names XLR and RCA outputs and no headphone output
Questions before you buy
Which inputs and outputs does the SU-2 list?
The pictured table gives AES/Coaxial/Optical inputs and RCA and XLR outputs. The panel legend numbers an optical, a coaxial and an AES/EBU input, an XLR and an RCA output and a power input.
Does it support MQA or DSD?
The pictured table lists MQA and MQA-CD as unsupported and DSD as DSD(64DoP). The store's tags still include MQA DACs, so the page is inconsistent on MQA.
What power does it use?
A picture of the rear panel prints ~AC IN 100V-240V, and the table lists the power supply as AC. Power consumption is listed as under 2.3W, with standby power under 0.1W.
Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?
From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.
Can I send it back if I change my mind?
HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.
What warranty does HiFiGO give?
One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify
- The store's tags include MQA DACs, while the pictured table lists MQA and MQA-CD as unsupported in the SU-2 column.
- The depth is 133.1mm in the table and 133.15mm in the drawing. XLR output is 4.7Vrms in the table but 4.818 and 4.828Vrms in the screenshots, and 123.5dB in the table is rounded against screenshots reading 123.855dB and 123.422dB. The dynamic range screenshot is titled Signal to Noise Ratio.
- The pictures claim distortion control at a leading level and dynamic range up to 130dB; the readouts are the page's own screenshots and no independent test was checked for this review. Twelve of the 20 pictures were not read for this review.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
