TOPPING D90 III Discrete Desktop DAC Review
A desktop DAC with XLR and RCA outputs and USB, optical, coaxial, AES, IIS-LVDS and Bluetooth 5.1 inputs, according to the page's pictures. Listed at $999 in black with a UK plug style, it suits buyers who want a balanced desktop DAC with a Bluetooth remote.

Our verdict
A fit for buyers who want a desktop DAC with XLR and RCA outputs, six inputs including Bluetooth 5.1 and a remote at $999. Look elsewhere if you want a network input (none appears among the rear-panel labels read), a plug style other than UK PLUG, or figures confirmed by someone other than the page. The main caveat: the pictures are the only source, many were read only by heading, and no independent test was checked for this review.
- Best for
- Buyers who want a desktop DAC with XLR and RCA outputs, several digital inputs and a Bluetooth remote.
- Skip if
- You want a network input, another plug style or figures confirmed by an outside measurement.
Why 3.3/5: Held back by a page with no specification list as text and most of its claims in pictures, only some of which were read; by the store's own terms that contradict each other; and because no independent test was checked for this review: every figure is the store's own.
TOPPING D90 III Discrete is a desktop DAC from TOPPING that HiFiGO lists at $999. Its description is 21 pictures with no specification text; the pictures read for this review show USB, optical, coaxial, AES, IIS-LVDS and Bluetooth 5.1 inputs, XLR and RCA outputs, a 12V trigger and a Bluetooth remote. A hero picture's heading calls it a fully discrete 1 bit design, and the USB panel picture gives up to PCM768kHz/32bit and DSD512.

Options and pricing
The page lists one option: D90 III Discrete-Black in the UK PLUG style at $999, orderable when the page was read. No other color or plug style appears among the options. A contents list pictured on the page names the DAC, a remote control, a USB cable, an AC cable, a Bluetooth antenna and a Product Information Card, and the rear-panel pictures show an AC inlet marked 100-240VAC 50-60Hz.
How it compares
The TOPPING Centaurus Fully Balanced R2R DAC is also $999 and is named an R2R design, where this unit's pictures describe a discrete 1 bit module; buyers who want an R2R DAC should look there first. The Gustard U26 USB Digital Interface costs $999.99 and carries Digital Interface in its name where this unit carries DAC. The D90 III suits a buyer who wants the DAC, XLR and RCA outputs and a Bluetooth remote in one unit.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked
- Pictures list XLR and RCA outputs that can be switched on separately or together, with levels of XLR 4V and RCA 2V or XLR 5V and RCA 2.5V
- Six inputs are pictured: USB, optical, coaxial, AES, IIS-LVDS and Bluetooth 5.1
- A USB panel picture gives up to PCM768kHz/32bit and DSD512 and names Windows 10, Windows 11, MAC, Linux and iOS/Android
- Bluetooth 5.1 with LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX, aptX HD, AAC and SBC is listed in a picture
- A Bluetooth remote and a ten-band PEQ appear among the headline tiles
Worth noting
- The page has no specification list as text: the figures sit in pictures, and many pictures were read only by their headings
- Only one option is listed, Black in a UK PLUG style; no other plug style or color appears
- The pictures read for this review give no load for the XLR and RCA output levels
- A rear-panel photo carries an MQA logo, but no picture read for this review says MQA is supported
- Distortion, jitter and Hi-Res claims are pictured on the page with no independent test checked here
Questions before you buy
Which inputs and outputs does the D90 III Discrete have?
The pictures list USB, optical, coaxial, AES, IIS-LVDS and Bluetooth 5.1 inputs, XLR and RCA outputs, and a 12V trigger with IN and OUT. A picture says the IIS input is not HDMI but a customized digital audio transmission interface.
What does the USB input support?
A USB picture says it supports up to PCM768kHz/32bit and DSD512, with USB hardware based on a third generation XMOS XU316 and a Thesycon driver for Windows. It names Windows 10, Windows 11, MAC, Linux and iOS/Android, and notes that Windows ASIO applications need the driver installed and set up.
Which Bluetooth codecs are listed?
A Bluetooth picture lists LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX, aptX HD, AAC and SBC, with Bluetooth 5.1, a QCC5125 chip and up to 96kHz/24bit.
Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?
From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.
Can I send it back if I change my mind?
HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.
What warranty does HiFiGO give?
One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify
- A picture claims jitter as low as -157dB, and pictures show Hi-Res AUDIO logos under a Hi-Res certification tile; these are claims on the page, not figures checked for this review.
- A macOS audio screenshot lists D90 III Discrete under a panel heading that reads D70 P (cut off). A rear-panel photo carries an MQA logo, but no picture read for this review says MQA is supported.
- The pictures read for this review give no load for the XLR 4V/RCA 2V and XLR 5V/RCA 2.5V output levels. Many pictures were read only by heading and two could not be opened, so figures in them are not covered here.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
- 2 of the 21 description pictures on HiFiGO's page did not load when we checked on October 29, 2026 (their image host answered "not found"), so anything they showed is not covered here.
