AFUL Performer 8S Nine-Driver IEMs Review
A nine-driver IEM per the page (one dynamic, six balanced armature, one passive radiator and one micro planar driver per side), listed at $384.99 with a 3.5mm or 4.4mm option. It suits buyers who want an adjustable passive radiator; the page gives 26Ω±20% and 108dB@1kHz.

Our verdict
A fit for buyers who want a nine-driver hybrid with an adjustable bass setting and a choice of 3.5mm or 4.4mm plug. Look elsewhere if you want a stated weight, a tuning described by one label rather than several, or measurements beyond the page's figures. The main caveat is that the bass modes and tuning descriptions are the page's words, and the store's own tags call the sound bassy, bright, warm and neutral at once.
- Best for
- Buyers who want a passive radiator bass setting and a 3.5mm or 4.4mm plug choice.
- Skip if
- You want a stated weight or a tuning described by one label rather than several.
Why 3.5/5: Limited by the store's own contradictory terms and by a page whose figures were not checked against an outside test for this review.
The page describes the Performer 8S as an upgrade to AFUL's Performer 5 and Performer 8 and gives it a nine-driver layout it calls a quad-brid: one dynamic driver, six balanced armatures, one adjustable passive radiator and one micro planar driver on each side. HiFiGO lists it at $384.99. The spec section gives 26Ω±20% impedance, 108dB@1kHz sensitivity and a 10Hz~35kHz range.

Options and pricing
Two options are listed, Performer 8S 3.5mm and Performer 8S 4.4mm, each at $384.99 and orderable when read; the page shows a crossed-out price of $389.99 next to each. The store labels the choice as a color, but both names describe the termination plug, which the spec section gives as 3.5mm or 4.4mm on a 0.78mm 2-pin connector. The page text gives no other option and no box list.
How it compares
The AFUL Performer8 is listed from $364.99 as 1DD+7BA, a count with no passive radiator or micro planar driver in its name. The TANCHJIM SODA is $409.20 and is named 1DD+4BA with two passive drivers per side. The DUNU Vulkan 2 is $359.99 and its spec line calls it an 8-driver hybrid. The 8S suits buyers drawn to an adjustable passive radiator with a 3.5mm or 4.4mm choice; the SODA suits those who want passive drivers on a 4BA base.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked
- Nine drivers per side listed: dynamic, six balanced armatures, passive radiator and micro planar
- Impedance, sensitivity, frequency range and connector are all in the spec section
- 3.5mm and 4.4mm options at the same listed price
- The page describes a passive radiator with closed and open settings
Worth noting
- The store's tags describe the sound as bassy, bright, warm and neutral at once, and the text says slightly warm
- The closed and open bass modes are described only in words, with no measurement in the page text
- The option field is labelled Color but the choices are plug types, and the page text gives no box list
- The page text gives no reference level for the 108dB@1kHz sensitivity
Questions before you buy
What are the two bass modes?
The page says the passive radiator can be set to a closed mode, described as a tight, punchy bass, or an open mode, described as a deeper, more elastic and softer bass. These are the page's descriptions; the page text gives no measurement of either mode.
Which plug options are there?
Two options are listed at $384.99 each: Performer 8S 3.5mm and Performer 8S 4.4mm. The spec section gives a 0.78mm 2-pin connector and a 3.5mm or 4.4mm termination plug.
What does the spec section say about impedance and sensitivity?
It lists 26Ω±20% and 108dB@1kHz, with a 10Hz~35kHz range. The features line says it is easy to drive, but the page text gives no output power or source recommendation.
Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?
From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.
Can I send it back if I change my mind?
HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.
What warranty does HiFiGO give?
One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify
- The store's tags call the sound bassy, bright, warm, neutral, mid-forward and reference, while the description says 'Slightly Warm'; the page text gives no measurement to settle it.
- The page text gives no measurement of the two bass modes or of the easy-to-drive claim. A curve note cites a third-party measurement; the page text names none and gives no data.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
