Our verdict
EBO Max is Enabot's AI-forward companion robot: 4K two-way video, a 4-mic array for 360° sound localization, and multimodal AI that recognizes registered faces and a voice and adapts to routines over time. Three patrol modes suit home monitoring. Enabot says it can also detect falls during patrols, but publishes no accuracy figures or limits, so treat that as an extra, not a safety system. It suits buyers who want Enabot's most advanced recognition and patrol features and can live with up to 3 hours of movement per charge.
- Best for
- Families who want a camera robot that recognizes faces and a voice and patrols on a schedule, with fall alerts as an extra.
- Skip if
- You want the longest possible untethered run time, or don't need face/voice recognition and would rather pay less for EBO Air or EBO Mini.
Why 3.9/5: Lifted by 4K two-way video, face and voice recognition and three patrol modes for $599.99 list ($539.99 on sale on Oct 29, 2026); held back by up to 3 hours of movement per charge and by AI and fall-alert claims Enabot doesn't back with figures.
Weighing it up? Enabot EBO Robots Compared: X, Max, Air 2 Plus, Air 2S and SE 2
EBO Max sits near the top of Enabot's FamilyBot lineup at $599.99 list ($539.99 on sale on Oct 29, 2026), positioned as an "embodied AI" companion and security robot rather than a plain camera on wheels. Enabot groups it under AI Companion, Communication, and Home Security on its own site, reflecting a feature set that spans all three.
Its AI centers on perception and memory: a 4-mic array with AI noise cancellation gives it 360-degree sound localization (Enabot specifies this works best within about 5 meters), and it recognizes registered family members by face, voice, and appearance, supporting up to 10 face profiles and one voice ID. Enabot's own FAQ contrasts this with the cheaper EBO Air 2 Plus, which it says uses "reactive AI" that responds only to the current input and has no memory.
Communication runs through a 4K camera with two-way video and audio, and voice wake-up is as simple as saying "EBO EBO" from 3-5 meters away. For monitoring, EBO Max supports three patrol styles -- Route Patrol, Marked-Point Patrol, and Full-House Patrol -- combining V-SLAM navigation with route memory and infrared docking to find its way back to its charging dock. Enabot's FAQ also says EBO Max can detect falls and send an instant alert, and its EBO Max page ties that to scheduled patrols. Enabot publishes no accuracy figures, conditions or limits for it, and we haven't tested it, so it's no substitute for a medical alert device or for checking in on someone who might fall.
Physically, EBO Max is Enabot's largest and heaviest camera robot at 129x127x117mm and about 750g, with a 2500mAh battery rated for 4-6 hours on standby/recording or up to 3 hours of continuous movement, a 3-4 hour charge time, and 53dB of operating noise. The box includes the robot, a charging dock, a power adapter, a pin tool, a pre-inserted 32GB SD card, the packaging box, and a user manual.
Enabot's standard store policies apply: free shipping with duties and VAT included to the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and the rest of Europe and Asia; a 14-day free-reason return (buyer pays return shipping) or a 7-day replacement/refund for dead-on-arrival units; and a 1-year warranty, or 2 years for purchases within European countries.
What we liked
- 4K camera with two-way video and audio calling
- Embodied multimodal AI recognizes up to 10 registered faces plus one voice ID and adapts to routines over time
- Three patrol modes: a route, marked points or the whole house
- Voice wake-up ("EBO EBO") works from 3-5 meters away with a 4-mic array and AI noise cancellation
Worth noting
- At $599.99 list ($539.99 on sale on Oct 29, 2026) it costs more than five of the other six FamilyBot models, though less than the $999 EBO X
- Up to 3 hours of movement per charge per Enabot's spec sheet, against 4 hours on the cheaper EBO Air 2 models
- Recognition caps out at 10 face profiles and 1 voice ID (one block on Enabot's store page says 20)
- Heaviest camera robot in the range at 750g
- Enabot publishes no accuracy figures or limits for its fall alerts
Questions before you buy
What does EBO Max's AI do that EBO Air 2 Plus doesn't?
Enabot's FAQ describes EBO Max's multimodal AI as recognizing faces and voices, making context-aware decisions, and learning habits over time via adaptive memory. EBO Air 2 Plus instead uses what Enabot calls reactive AI, which responds only to the current input, has no memory, and doesn't support voice wake-up.
How do I wake EBO Max with my voice?
Say "EBO EBO" within about 3-5 meters; it recognizes your voice, turns toward you, and responds.
Can EBO Max detect falls?
Enabot says EBO Max can detect falls and send an instant alert, and its EBO Max page ties this to scheduled patrols. Enabot publishes no accuracy figures, conditions or limits, and we haven't tested it, so treat it as an extra rather than a safety system: it doesn't replace a medical alert device or checking in on an older relative.
What patrol options does EBO Max support?
Route Patrol, Marked-Point Patrol, and Full-House Patrol, combining V-SLAM navigation with route memory and infrared docking for its return-to-dock navigation.
What's in the box?
EBO Max, its charging dock, a power adapter, a pin tool, a pre-inserted 32GB SD card, the packaging box, and a user manual.
Does EBO Max need a subscription?
Not for local recording. Enabot's EBO Max page offers cloud storage as an optional paid plan; fall alerts and on-device recognition aren't tied to one.
