iBasso DC-Tonfa R2R DAC/Amp Review
iBasso's DC-Tonfa is an 8-channel R2R DAC and headphone amp with 4.4mm balanced and 3.5mm single-ended outputs and a weight of 45g, listed at $339.99. It suits buyers who want a spec section with output power stated at 32Ω.

Our verdict
Aimed at buyers who want an R2R DAC and amp with both 4.4mm and 3.5mm outputs and a spec section at $339.99. Skip it if you want a wireless input, a battery or power-source detail, or a color other than Black. The sound claims are the page's words, and the figures are the store's own, with no independent test checked for this review.
- Best for
- Buyers who want an R2R DAC and amp with 4.4mm and 3.5mm outputs and a spec section.
- Skip if
- You want a wireless input, a battery figure or the Red or Blue color.
Why 3.6/5: Lifted by a specification list with figures for both outputs; held back by inconsistent store terms and by the fact that no independent test was checked for this review.
iBasso built the DC-Tonfa around a discrete 8-channel R2R network with no DAC chip named, and the page says it was co-developed with Japan's E-Star Earphone. The spec section lists 800mW + 800mW at 32Ω on the 4.4mm output, USB input up to PCM 768kHz and DSD512x, and a weight of 45g. HiFiGO's page prices it at $339.99.

Options and pricing
Three colors are listed at $339.99 each: DC-Tonfa Black, DC-Tonfa Red and DC-Tonfa Blue. Only Black was orderable when the page was read; Red and Blue showed as sold out. The page describes one set of outputs for the product, a 4.4mm balanced and a 3.5mm single-ended one, and says the 3.5mm output also supports digital optical SPDIF output. It lists no cables or box contents and shows no crossed-out price.
How it compares
Side by side with the QULOOS MUB1 at $449.99, the DC-Tonfa at $339.99 lists its USB input up to PCM 768kHz and DSD512x, where the MUB1 line lists 32-Bit/384kHz PCM and Native DSD256, and the MUB1 title adds Bluetooth. The xDuoo XD05 Bal2 is $429 and its line names an XMOS XU316 USB receiver. The MUSE HiFi M5Ultra is $290 and its title says Bluetooth, which the DC-Tonfa page never mentions. The DC-Tonfa suits buyers who want an R2R design with output stated at 32Ω on both outputs; the M5Ultra suits those who want Bluetooth.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.

- THD+N values (0.004% and 0.0056%) come with no stated measurement conditions
Questions before you buy
How much power does the DC-Tonfa list?
The spec section gives 800mW + 800mW at 32Ω on the 4.4mm balanced output (THD under 0.5%) and 219mW + 219mW at 32Ω on the 3.5mm single-ended output (THD under 0.1%). Output voltage is 5.2Vrms in high gain and 2.6Vrms in low gain on 4.4mm, and 2.6Vrms and 1.3Vrms on 3.5mm.
What USB formats and modes does it list?
USB input up to PCM 768kHz and DSD512x, with switchable UAC 2.0 and UAC 1.0 modes. The page names Windows, MacOS, Android, iOS and gaming devices that need UAC1.0.
Which outputs does it have?
A 4.4mm balanced and a 3.5mm single-ended headphone output. The page adds that the 3.5mm output also supports digital optical SPDIF output.
Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?
From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.
Can I send it back if I change my mind?
HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.
What warranty does HiFiGO give?
One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify
- SNR and dynamic range cite AES17-20k A-wt, but the THD+N values (0.004%, 0.0056%) and the 0.8μV noise floor claimed for the power supply come with no stated conditions.
- The feature list headlines 800mW per channel at 32Ω, which the spec section gives only for the 4.4mm output; no battery, power-source or wireless detail appears on the page.
- The sound claims (analog realism, bass control, treble extension, a black background) are the page's words, and the 312-resistor and 60-resistor figures come with no source named on the page.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
