Our verdict

Suits buyers who want a USB DAC and amp at $299 with a TUBE mode and a Class AB mode, 3.5mm and 4.4mm outputs and 32Ω power figures for each mode. Look elsewhere if you cannot accept the TUBE-mode caveats that a pictured iBasso letter lists: microphonic effect, minor phone interference and some background noise. The pictures name the tubes two ways, and no independent test was checked for this review: every figure is the store's own.

Why 3.3/5: Held back by a page whose specifications sit only in pictures, with some missing or unread, by the store's own terms contradicting each other, and by figures that are the store's own with no independent test checked for this review.

Per its pictures, the iBasso Nunchaku combines dual Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chips, two Raytheon JAN6418 vacuum tubes and a Class AB op-amp output in a USB DAC and amp that the page lists at $299 in grey or red. The pictures also give separate TUBE and AB mode figures, including 525mW at 32Ω from the 4.4mm balanced output in TUBE mode, 450mW in AB mode, and a weight of 50g.

Options and pricing

Two colors are listed, Nunchaku Grey and Nunchaku Red, both at $299 and orderable when the page was read. The picture headed Package Components shows the unit, a yellow case, two short cables, a Quick Start Guide booklet, a leaflet and a USB-A adapter. The leaflet text is low resolution but appears to list the Nunchaku, a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-C to Lightning cable, a USB-C to USB-A converter and a user manual, and it does not name the case.

How it compares

The xDuoo XD05 BASIC2 CS43131 Portable DAC & Headphone Amplifier is also $299 and is named a portable DAC and headphone amplifier with a CS43131 chip, while the Nunchaku is named a USB DAC and tube amp. The iBasso DC07PRO CS43131 USB Portable DAC&AMP costs $199, and the xDuoo XD05T Dual ES9039Q2M Portable DAC & Headphone Amplifier costs $549. The Nunchaku suits buyers who want a tube option in a USB unit; the DC07PRO suits those who do not need one.

Shipping, returns and warranty

HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.

Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.

HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.

On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.

What we liked

  • Two Raytheon JAN6418 vacuum tubes plus a Class AB op-amp output, with separate TUBE and AB figures, per the pictures
  • Output power listed at 32Ω for each mode: 450mW and 525mW on the 4.4mm output, 125mW and 150mW on the 3.5mm output
  • Both 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced outputs, per the pictures
  • Dual Cirrus Logic CS43198 DACs with PCM up to 32bit/768kHz and native DSD 512x, per the pictures

Worth noting

  • A pictured iBasso letter says TUBE mode may show a microphonic effect, minor interference near a smartphone and a degree of background noise, and suggests Class AB mode if that is a concern
  • In the pictures TUBE mode lists lower S/N and crosstalk than AB mode on the 4.4mm output: 107dB and 82dB against 130dB and 145dB
  • The page text has no specification list: the figures sit in pictures, two of which could not be retrieved and several of which were not opened for this review

Questions before you buy

What do the pictures say about TUBE and AB modes?

The pictures list separate figures: on the 4.4mm output, 450mW at 32Ω in AB mode and 525mW in TUBE mode, with S/N of 130dB and 107dB. A pictured iBasso letter says TUBE mode may show a microphonic effect, minor interference near a smartphone and a degree of background noise, and picture text says Class AB mode has no microphonic effect, interference sound or background noise.

Which tubes and chips does it list?

The pictures list two Raytheon JAN6418 directly heated vacuum tubes on a 22.5V anode supply, dual Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chips, and for the Class AB part 4pcs TI dual OPAMP and 4pcs BUF634A. One picture writes the tube name as JN6418.

What does the package picture show?

A photo shows the unit, a yellow case, two short cables, a Quick Start Guide booklet, a leaflet and a USB-A adapter. The low-resolution leaflet text appears to list a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-C to Lightning cable, a USB-C to USB-A converter and a user manual, and does not name the case.

Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?

From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.

Can I send it back if I change my mind?

HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.

What warranty does HiFiGO give?

One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify

  • Picture 01 reads Dual Raytheon JN6418 Tubes where picture 04 reads JAN6418. The package photo shows a yellow case that the low-resolution contents list does not name.
  • Sound and power claims in the pictures, including an iBasso letter, are not checked here: a 'tube flavor', the letter's description of the tube mode's harmonic distortion, and a claim that the output can drive most headphones easily.
  • THD+N is given at 200kΩ (4.4mm) and 600Ω (3.5mm) loads while power is at 32Ω; the Class AB current draw is 100mA/5V in picture 09 and 'lower than 100mA/5V' in that picture's text.
  • HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
  • HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
  • 2 of the 20 description pictures on HiFiGO's page did not load when we checked on October 29, 2026 (their image host answered "not found"), so anything they showed is not covered here.
