LADDER Bach II Line Preamplifier Review
A desktop line preamplifier listed at $899 in black or silver, with two XLR inputs and one RCA input. The page text gives 2.0Vrms RCA and 4.0Vrms XLR outputs, unity gain and 120dB S/N, and its pictures add a 60-step relay-based volume control.

Our verdict
Right for buyers who want a line preamplifier with two XLR inputs, one RCA input and both RCA and XLR outputs at $899, with a spec list in the page text. Look elsewhere if you need a headphone output or settled dimensions: the pictures disagree on size, and no picture uses the R2R term from the title. No independent test was checked for this review: every figure is the store's own.
- Best for
- Buyers who want a line preamplifier with XLR and RCA inputs and a 60-step relay volume.
- Skip if
- You need a headphone output, firm dimensions or figures from an independent test.
Why 3.5/5: Lifted by a list of specification figures in the page text; held back by a short text with most claims in pictures, by the store's own terms contradicting each other, and by figures that no independent test checked for this review backs.
Listed at $899 in black or silver, the LADDER Bach II is a desktop line preamplifier whose page text lists IN1 and IN2 as XLR and IN3 as RCA, outputs of 2.0Vrms on RCA and 4.0Vrms on XLR, unity gain at 0dB, 120dB S/N and a 10-80k response within -0.3dB. Its pictures add a 60-step relay-based stepped attenuator and an LCD screen, and the title names a remote control.

Options and pricing
The page offers the Bach II as Bach II Black or Bach II Silver, both $899 and orderable when it was read. The pictures give the finish as Silver / Black aluminum alloy with a net weight of 6.5kg. The title names a remote control, but no picture shows one and no in-the-box list appears in the pictures.
How it compares
The LADDER Chopin II R2R Preamplifier costs $1,549 against $899 for the Bach II and is named a preamplifier from the same maker. The DAART Yulong A39 is $1,099 and is named for both preamplifier and headphone amplifier duty, while the Bach II's panel picture lists no headphone output. The Bach II is the line-level choice with no headphone stage listed; the A39 suits a desk that also needs headphones.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked
- The page text carries a specification list: inputs, impedances, output levels, gain, response, S/N, dynamic range and crosstalk
- Two XLR inputs and one RCA input, with RCA and XLR outputs listed at 2.0Vrms and 4.0Vrms
- Input impedance listed as 12.2K Ohms single-ended and 60K Ohms balanced, output impedance as 200 Ohms and 400 Ohms
- Mains range listed as 100-240VAC, 50/60Hz, with 1W idle and 20W operational power use in the pictures
- A 60-step relay-based stepped attenuator is named in the pictures
Worth noting
- Two dimension sets conflict: 320mm X 330mm X 60mm (and 450mm X 380 mm X 160mm) in one picture, 240mm by 270mm by 60mm (width, depth, height) in another
- THD+N is listed as 0.00% with no level or bandwidth, so it cannot be compared
- The title says R2R but no picture uses the term; the pictures describe a relay-based stepped attenuator
- The remote control is named in the title and a picture's text only; no picture shows one and no in-the-box list appears

What we couldn’t verify
- Dimensions conflict: one picture gives 320mm X 330mm X 60mm and 450mm X 380 mm X 160mm, another 240mm by 270mm by 60mm (width, depth, height). The title says R2R, but no picture uses the term.
- THD+N is 0.00% with no level or bandwidth; S/N 120dB, dynamic range above 121dB and the 2.0Vrms and 4.0Vrms output levels carry no conditions or load. Claims such as an output circuit with about twice the conversion rate of a standard one are the pictures' own.
- The page text and a picture give a 12 Months warranty, a service claim not checked against the store's policy pages here; no remote photo or in-the-box list appears in the pictures.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
