Yulong DAART A39 Preamp/Headphone Amp Review

A preamplifier and headphone amplifier listed at $1,099 in black or silver. A pictured table gives 6000mW at 32Ω balanced and 2500mW at 32Ω single-ended, so it suits buyers who want 4.4mm, 6.35mm and 4-pin XLR headphone outputs and do not need a DAC in the same box.

Our verdict

A fit for a buyer who wants a preamplifier and headphone amplifier with 4.4mm, 6.35mm and 4-pin XLR outputs and a separate DAC, at $1,099. Look elsewhere if you want a DAC in the same box, a named DAC chip or a confirmed R2R design. The main caveat is that four of the page's 11 pictures could not be read and the store's title does not match the pictures.

Why 3.3/5: Held back by a short page text with no specification list and its claims in pictures, by the store's own terms contradicting each other, and by no independent test being checked for this review: every figure is the store's own.

The DAART A39 from Yulong is labelled A39 Pre/Headphone Amplifier in its pictures and is listed at $1,099 in black or silver. The pictures show 4.4mm, 6.35mm and 4-pin XLR headphone outputs, a 99-level volume control and an IPS LCD with spectrum and VU meters. A pictured table gives 6000mW at 32Ω balanced and 2500mW at 32Ω single-ended, while the store's title adds R2R, which none of the seven pictures available for this review confirms.

Options and pricing

Two options are listed at $1,099 each, A39-Black and A39-Silver, both orderable when the page was read. Pictures of the companion D39 DAC stacked above the A39 show a separate product that is not part of this listing's item. No in-the-box list turned up among the readable pictures, and four of the page's 11 pictures could not be read.

How it compares

At $1,099 the A39 sits between the DAART Yulong Aurora MQA ESS9068AS*2 DAC Headphone Amplifier at $999.99 and the Cayin iDAC-8 Tube DAC and Headphone Amplifier at $1,199.99. Both of those titles name a DAC, while the A39's pictures read for this review name no DAC chip and describe it as designed to pair with the D39 DAC. The xDuoo TA32 ROHM BD34301 DAC&Tube Balance Headphone Amplifier at $999 names a tube stage. Pick the A39 if a separate DAC is acceptable.

Shipping, returns and warranty

HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.

Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.

HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.

On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.

What we liked

  • Headphone power is listed at five loads from 32Ω to 600Ω for both single-ended and balanced outputs in a pictured table
  • 4.4mm, 6.35mm and 4-pin XLR headphone outputs, with XLR and RCA preamp outputs named in a picture
  • Pre-amp output levels of 10V (RCA) and 20V (XLR) and an input impedance of 10KΩ are listed in a pictured table
  • IPS LCD with input spectrum and VU meters, and a 99-level volume control, per the pictures

Worth noting

  • The store's title says R2R, but none of the seven pictures available for this review says R2R or names a DAC chip
  • THD+N is 0.0002% in the table but 0.000267 % and 0.000269 % in an Audio Precision screenshot with no load or test conditions given
  • The input jacks are not described in the pictures available for this review, and four of the 11 pictures could not be read
  • No pictured list of the box contents was available to read

Questions before you buy

Is the A39 an R2R DAC?

The store's title says R2R Pre Amplifier, but none of the seven pictures available for this review says R2R or names a DAC chip. The unit is labelled A39 Pre/Headphone Amplifier, and a picture lists an analog input buffer.

What headphone power does the A39 list?

A pictured table gives single-ended 32Ω 2500mW, 64Ω 2200mW, 150Ω 1000mW, 300Ω 500mW and 600Ω 250mW, and balanced 32Ω 6000mW, 64Ω 6000mW, 150Ω 3200mW, 300Ω 1800mW and 600Ω 900mW.

Which outputs does it have?

The pictures show 4.4mm, 6.35mm and 4-pin XLR headphone outputs. A picture claim names XLR and RCA preamp outputs, and the table gives pre-amp output levels of 10V single-ended (RCA) and 20V balanced (XLR).

Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?

From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.

Can I send it back if I change my mind?

HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.

What warranty does HiFiGO give?

One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify

  • CONFLICT: the store's title says R2R Pre Amplifier, but none of the seven readable pictures says R2R or names a DAC chip; the unit is labelled A39 Pre/Headphone Amplifier. Four of the 11 pictures could not be read.
  • THD+N is 0.0002% in the table but 0.000267 % and 0.000269 % in an Audio Precision screenshot that gives no load or test conditions.
  • Claims in the pictures (6W Class A output, tuning by veteran audiophiles and engineers, easy menu navigation) are the page's own claims; the D39 DAC shown stacked above the unit is a separate product.
  • HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
  • HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
  • 4 of the 11 description pictures on HiFiGO's page did not load when we checked on October 29, 2026 (their image host answered "not found"), so anything they showed is not covered here.
