Moondrop CHU 3 IEMs Review
A single 10mm dynamic driver IEM with an aluminum-magnesium alloy composite diaphragm in Black or Silver, listed at $24.99 with a 3.5mm plug. It suits buyers who want 16Ω and 118dB/Vrms on the page and a detachable 0.78mm 2-pin cable.

Our verdict
Makes sense for buyers who want a 3.5mm single dynamic driver IEM at $24.99 with listed impedance, sensitivity and frequency ranges that name their measurement standards. Look elsewhere if you need a microphone, a balanced or Type C plug, or measurements from someone other than the store. The main caveat is that every tuning and sound claim on the page is sales copy, with no measurement of the sound in the page text.
- Best for
- Buyers who want a 3.5mm single dynamic driver IEM with listed impedance, sensitivity and measurement standards.
- Skip if
- You need a microphone, a balanced or Type C plug, or measurements from someone other than the store.
Why 3.6/5: Lifted by impedance, sensitivity, THD+N and two frequency ranges that name their measurement standards; held back by store terms that contradict each other, and because no independent test of this model was checked for this review.
The CHU 3 is the third generation of Moondrop's Chu line per the page, a single dynamic driver IEM listed at $24.99 in Black or Silver. The spec section gives 16Ω impedance, 118dB/Vrms sensitivity and THD+N of ≤0.1%, with a 10mm driver, an aluminum-magnesium alloy composite diaphragm and a zinc alloy cavity. The page says Moondrop tuned the CHU 3 to the PopAvg-DF(JM-1) target, which it ties to an HRTF response. The cable connects through 0.78mm 2-pin connectors and a 3.5mm termination plug.

Options and pricing
Two options are listed, CHU 3 Black and CHU 3 Silver, both at $24.99 and both orderable when the page was read. The option names differ only in the color word, and the features list repeats the Silver and Black choice. The spec section lists a 0.78mm 2-pin connector and a 3.5mm termination plug, so no Type C, microphone or balanced version appears in the options or the spec section. The page text gives no cable length or box contents.
How it compares
The Moondrop ChuII / Chu2 Dynamic Driver In-Ear Headphone is $22.99 against $24.99 here and shares the Moondrop Chu name. The Pula Audio ARC 10mm PET Dynamic Driver In-Ear Monitor is listed from $20.99, and the KEFINE Loric 10mm Dynamic Driver In-Ear Monitors from $28.99. The CHU 3 suits a buyer who wants 16Ω and 118dB/Vrms listed alongside frequency ranges that name their measurement standards, with Black or Silver at one price.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked
- The spec section lists 16Ω impedance, 118dB/Vrms sensitivity and THD+N of ≤0.1%
- Both frequency ranges name a standard: 12Hz-50kHz (IEC61094, free field) and an effective 20Hz-20kHz (IEC60318-4, -3dB)
- Detachable cable on 0.78mm 2-pin connectors with a 3.5mm plug
- N52 neodymium magnetic circuit with a stated flux greater than 1.5T, per the page
- Black or Silver at the same $24.99
Worth noting
- Only a 3.5mm termination is listed, with no microphone, balanced or Type C version
- No weight figure, cable length or box contents are given in the page text
- The store's tags give three labels (mild V-shaped tuning, reference tuning, warm sound) while the text names a PopAvg-DF(JM-1) HRTF target
Questions before you buy
What impedance and sensitivity does the CHU 3 list?
The spec section lists 16Ω impedance and 118dB/Vrms sensitivity. The text calls this a high-sensitivity, low-impedance design and says it suits desktop setups, portable DAC/AMPs and digital audio players, which is the page's claim rather than a power requirement.
Which frequency ranges and distortion figures are given?
The spec section lists 12Hz-50kHz (IEC61094, free field) and an effective range of 20Hz-20kHz (IEC60318-4, -3dB), plus THD+N of ≤0.1%. The feature list also gives THD≤0.1%@1kHz.
Which colors and plug does it come in?
Black and Silver, both $24.99, with a 3.5mm termination plug and a 0.78mm 2-pin connector, per the spec section.
Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?
From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.
Can I send it back if I change my mind?
HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.
What warranty does HiFiGO give?
One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify
- Sound claims (natural timbre, three-dimensional imaging, bass extension, soundstage) are the page's wording, and the store's tags say mild V-shaped tuning, reference tuning and warm sound; no measurement of the sound is on the page text.
- The page says the magnetic flux is greater than 1.5T and the suspension uses two polymer materials, and makes comfort and corrosion-protection claims for the zinc alloy shell, with no data or certificate in the page text.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
