Nobsound EQ9 9-Band Stereo EQ Preamp Review
A 9-band analog equalizer preamp with ±6dB per band, dual RCA in/out pairs, a bypass switch, and a balance control, in a shielded aluminum case.

Our verdict
The Nobsound EQ9 is a compact analog 9-band equalizer preamp at $49.99, with ±6dB per band, dual RCA in/out pairs, bypass, and balance control. It fits listeners who want old-school tactile tone shaping on a line-level signal — desktop chains, secondary systems, or car audio — and are happy to drive the result into an amp or active speakers downstream.
- Best for
- Listeners who want hands-on, per-band tone shaping in a desktop, secondary, or car audio chain.
- Skip if
- You need an amp to drive speakers, or you prefer digital EQ with presets and memory over analog sliders.
Why 3.4/5: Lifted by the lowest THD and highest SNR figures in the group, nine bands, bypass and balance, and a 12V adapter in the box at $49.99. Held back by RCA only, a ±6dB range, no rating for the adapter, and a page that is unclear on whether the two inputs are selectable.
The Nobsound EQ9, priced at $49.99, is a 9-band stereo equalizer preamp that sits in a signal chain before an amplifier or active speakers, shaping tone at line level rather than providing power.
Its nine bands cover 20Hz, 60Hz, 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 6kHz, and 16kHz, each adjustable across a ±6dB range. Two groups of stereo RCA inputs and outputs let two sources stay connected without replugging, and a bypass mode routes the input directly to the output with no processing, which makes it easy to compare equalized and original sound. A separate balance control compensates left and right channels across all outputs to keep the stereo image centered.
The measured specs are strong on paper for the price: signal-to-noise ratio of at least 111dB, total harmonic distortion of 0.001% at 1kHz, and a 20Hz–20kHz frequency response within ±0.4dB. The case is black aluminum alloy, measuring 220×65×21mm at 457g, which Nobsound cites for shielding against external interference. The package includes the EQ9 and a DC12V power adapter.

How it compares
At $49.99 the EQ9 is the cheapest of the group's seven equalizers, with the lowest THD and highest SNR any page in the group lists: 9 bands from 20Hz to 16kHz at ±6dB, a THD (total harmonic distortion) of 0.001% at 1kHz and an SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of at least 111dB, plus a DC12V adapter in the box. The Douk Audio EQ5 Mini costs $64.99, which is $15.00 more, with 5 bands at ±10dB, a THD of 0.003% at 1kHz, no stated SNR and 3.5mm AUX alongside RCA; its page lists no adapter, and its footprint is about half the size (120 x 60mm against 220 x 65mm, though 38mm tall against 21mm) at 224g against 457g. The Douk Audio T7 costs $99.99, which is $50.00 more, and adds balanced XLR in and out, with 7 bands at ±6dB and an SNR of at least 104dB, but a higher THD of 0.003%.
Who it suits: the EQ9 fits a home desk or secondary system that wants nine bands and published noise figures for the least money among the equalizers, and has room for a long, flat 220mm case. Skip it if you need balanced XLR (RCA only), a 3.5mm input, or ±10dB of range: its bands go ±6dB.
Shipping, returns and warranty
- Shipping: Douk Audio's current shipping page says orders are generally processed no later than the next business day and arrive in 2-8 business days, with duties, taxes and customs fees included in the checkout price unless noted otherwise.
- Older shipping terms are still online: airmail at 10-25 days for parcels under 2 kg, DHL, UPS or FedEx at 5-8 days above that, and a line saying the store is not responsible for import duties. Check the delivery estimate and any duties at checkout.
- Returns: ask within 30 days of delivery and wait for approval before sending anything; an approved return has to ship within 7 days. Items need all packaging and accessories and no excessive wear, or the store can refuse them or refund part of the price. Refunds go to the original payment method after inspection.
- Not refunded: original and expedited shipping, duties, taxes and customs charges, unless the law requires it or the store made the error. The return page does not say who pays return postage, and the older refund page excludes mistaken orders and change-of-mind returns from free after-sale service.
- Warranty: 24 months from purchase for manufacturing defects, with free repair, a replacement unit and free shipping both ways for covered repairs. Drops, liquid, DIY repairs, lightning, extreme temperatures and misuse are excluded (partial fees may apply), and damage from weak packing on the way back may not be covered. The older refund page still says 1 year.
- Seller: the site is run by Shenzhen Anba Technology Co., Ltd (Shenzhen, China) and HONGKONG LONGSHENG Import and Export Trading Co., Limited (Hong Kong); support is by email at [email protected]. These terms cover orders placed on doukaudio.com; other sellers apply their own.
For this product, the page lists shipping to US, UK, EU, AU and Other (the Other option is priced $10.00 higher) and shows Free Shipping, 2-8 Days Arrival, 30-Day Return and 2-Year Warranty badges near the price.
What we liked
- Nine bands from 20Hz to 16kHz with ±6dB adjustment per band give real tonal shaping, not just a two-knob bass/treble tilt
- Bypass mode routes input straight to output untouched, handy for A/B-checking what the EQ is actually doing
- A balance control compensates left/right channel level so the stereo image centers properly
- Two groups of RCA inputs and outputs means switching between sources without replugging cables
Worth noting
- It is an EQ preamp, not a power amp — it shapes a line-level signal and needs an amp or active speakers downstream
- Analog sliders mean physically setting each band by eye, with no presets or digital memory
Questions before you buy
Does the EQ9 work on its own?
No. It is a preamp/EQ that processes a line-level signal; it needs to feed an amplifier or active speakers, or to sit in a chain with other line-level gear.
What frequencies can I adjust?
Nine bands: 20Hz, 60Hz, 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 6kHz, and 16kHz, each within ±6dB.
What is in the box?
The EQ9 preamp and a DC12V power adapter, per the packing list.
Can I compare with and without EQ?
Yes. Bypass mode outputs the input signal directly without processing, so you can A/B the effect of your equalizer settings.

What we couldn’t verify
- Price depends on the 'Shipping to' option: $49.99 for US, UK, EU and AU, $59.99 for Other. The page opens on US, so its visible text shows only $49.99.
- The page says the two RCA input and output groups spare 'plugging in and out cables repeatedly' but not whether the two inputs are selectable or run in parallel; the review says they allow switching between sources.
- 'Perfect reproduction of audio signal' and 'audiophiles who pursue high fidelity sound' are page claims; the SNR (111dB) and THD (0.001% at 1kHz) come with no frequency, weighting or load conditions. The review's body calls them 'measured'.
- The title says 'for Home/Car', but the page gives no current rating for the DC12V adapter and no car-power guidance.
- Warranty: the 2-Year Warranty badge is all this product page says about cover; exclusions are on the store's warranty page (see the shared section).
