Our verdict

The T7 packs a 7-band EQ, balanced XLR signal path and a via-power-off bypass into a $99.99 desktop unit. Its 0.003% THD and 104dB-plus SNR specs are strong for the price, and the XLR/RCA flexibility suits both hi-fi and studio-adjacent setups. The trade-offs are simple: no volume knob, and both outputs run simultaneously.

Best for
Listeners who want precise 7-band tone shaping with balanced XLR connectivity between a source and their power amp or active speakers.
Skip if
You need a volume knob or expect the XLR and RCA outputs to be selectable rather than always active.

Why 3.6/5: Lifted by stated THD (0.003%) and SNR (104dB or better), balanced XLR and RCA on both sides, and an adapter in the box. Held back by no volume knob, outputs that cannot be switched, and a ±6dB range narrower than the EQ7's ±10dB.

The Douk Audio T7 is a desktop 7-band stereo equalizer with a built-in preamplifier, selling for $99.99. It belongs to the preamp/EQ category and is sized for desktop or shelf use at 152 x 126 x 42mm and 700g, powered by an included DC 12V adapter.

Each of the seven bands - 64Hz, 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 2kHz, 4kHz and 8kHz - adjusts within a -6dB to +6dB range, letting you compensate for speaker and room shortcomings or reshape the tone of any source. Douk Audio rates the frequency response at 20Hz-20kHz (+/-1dB), total harmonic distortion at 0.003%, and signal-to-noise ratio at 104dB or better, so the EQ itself should stay out of the way of the music.

The T7 handles balanced XLR and single-ended RCA on both the input and output sides, with input sensitivities of 1.5Vrms (XLR) and 0.775Vrms (RCA) and outputs of 3Vrms and 1.2Vrms respectively. Note two quirks before buying: there is no volume control knob, so the unit outputs its rated level, and the XLR and RCA outputs both run at the same time. When powered off, the T7 automatically switches to bypass so you can hear the untouched signal.

How it compares

At $99.99 the T7 is the cheapest of the group's three 7-band equalizers with balanced XLR. The Douk Audio EQ7 costs $119.99, which is $20.00 more, and lists a wider ±10dB range over 32Hz to 10kHz, dual VU meters, a volume knob and a 5V USB-C supply, but no THD or SNR figure; the T7 page lists a THD (total harmonic distortion) of 0.003% and an SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of at least 104dB. The Douk Audio T8PRO costs $123.49, which is $23.50 more, and adds a tube stage with two pluggable 6H1N-BN tubes and a balance control, with 7 bands from 50Hz to 16kHz and a stated THD of 0.01% and SNR of at least 98dB; its page lists a 12V supply of 2A or more, against 1.5A or more for the T7.

At the budget end the Nobsound EQ9 costs $49.99, which is $50.00 less than the T7, with 9 bands at ±6dB, a THD of 0.001% and an SNR of at least 111dB on two RCA pairs, but no XLR. Who it suits: the T7 fits a balanced-XLR chain that wants stated noise and distortion figures and a bypass that engages when the unit is switched off, and does not need meters or a volume knob. Skip it if you want a volume knob or output switching: the page says there is no volume knob and that the XLR and RCA outputs always run together.

Shipping, returns and warranty

  • Shipping: Douk Audio's current shipping page says orders are generally processed no later than the next business day and arrive in 2-8 business days, with duties, taxes and customs fees included in the checkout price unless noted otherwise.
  • Older shipping terms are still online: airmail at 10-25 days for parcels under 2 kg, DHL, UPS or FedEx at 5-8 days above that, and a line saying the store is not responsible for import duties. Check the delivery estimate and any duties at checkout.
  • Returns: ask within 30 days of delivery and wait for approval before sending anything; an approved return has to ship within 7 days. Items need all packaging and accessories and no excessive wear, or the store can refuse them or refund part of the price. Refunds go to the original payment method after inspection.
  • Not refunded: original and expedited shipping, duties, taxes and customs charges, unless the law requires it or the store made the error. The return page does not say who pays return postage, and the older refund page excludes mistaken orders and change-of-mind returns from free after-sale service.
  • Warranty: 24 months from purchase for manufacturing defects, with free repair, a replacement unit and free shipping both ways for covered repairs. Drops, liquid, DIY repairs, lightning, extreme temperatures and misuse are excluded (partial fees may apply), and damage from weak packing on the way back may not be covered. The older refund page still says 1 year.
  • Seller: the site is run by Shenzhen Anba Technology Co., Ltd (Shenzhen, China) and HONGKONG LONGSHENG Import and Export Trading Co., Limited (Hong Kong); support is by email at [email protected]. These terms cover orders placed on doukaudio.com; other sellers apply their own.

For this product, the page lists shipping to US, UK, EU, AU and Other and shows Free Shipping, 2-8 Days Arrival, 30-Day Return and 2-Year Warranty badges near the price.

What we liked

  • Seven bands with up to +/-6dB of cut or boost let you shape speakers and rooms, not just add loudness
  • Genuine balanced XLR plus RCA inputs and outputs cover both pro-style and consumer gear
  • Bypass mode engages when powered off, so you can A/B the EQ against the original signal instantly
  • Very clean on paper: THD as low as 0.003% and SNR above 104dB
  • Black aluminum shell with good shielding for a compact foot print (152 x 126 x 42mm)

Worth noting

  • There is no volume control knob, so the T7 outputs its rated level regardless of the knob-free panel
  • The XLR and RCA outputs are always active at the same time, which rules out exclusive output switching
  • It is an equalizer and line preamp only, so a power amp or active speakers are still required

Questions before you buy

Does the T7 have a volume control?

No. Douk Audio notes the T7 has no volume control knob and outputs its rated level, so volume is handled by your amplifier.

How does bypass mode work?

Turning off the power activates bypass mode, letting the signal pass through so you can compare the original sound with the EQ-processed sound.

What comes in the box?

The package includes the T7 preamp and one DC 12V power adapter.

What is the warranty and return policy?

Douk Audio's current policy pages give you 30 days from delivery to request a return, which Douk must approve before you send the item back (within 7 days of approval); original shipping fees and duties aren't refunded. Its warranty covers manufacturing defects for 24 months from purchase, with free repair or replacement.

What we couldn’t verify

  • 'Perfect reproduction', 'exceptional audio', 'excellent separation, resolution, sound field' and 'high fidelity' are page claims; the page lists THD and SNR but no channel-separation figure and no test setup.
  • THD 0.003% and SNR 104dB or better come with no frequency, level or load conditions; the page says the SNR 'exceeds 104dB' in one place and lists '≥104dB' in its Parameters.
  • Output levels are listed per connector (RCA 1.2Vrms, XLR 3Vrms) with no maximum output level or load stated.
  • Bypass works by turning the power off, per the page; it does not say whether the XLR and RCA outputs both stay active in that state.
  • Power: the page lists DC 12V at 1.5A or more and a 12V adapter in the box, but not the adapter's plug type for each shipping region.
  • Warranty: the 2-Year Warranty badge is all this product page says about cover; exclusions are on the store's warranty page (see the shared section).
