SMSL H200 Headphone Amp and Preamp Review
A desktop headphone amplifier and pre-amplifier with 4.4mm balanced and 6.35mm single-ended outputs, a stated 5W at 32Ω and THD+N of 0.00007%, listed at $399. It suits a desk stack that needs a pre-out for active speakers or a power amplifier.

Our verdict
A fit for a desk that wants a headphone amplifier with 4.4mm balanced and 6.35mm single-ended sockets and a pre-out, at $399, with a stated 5W at 32Ω. Look elsewhere if you need the input connectors confirmed, a DAC in the same box, or a power figure for the 6.35mm output. The main caveat is that the page names no inputs and no pre-out connector; every figure is the store's own.
- Best for
- Listeners who want 4.4mm and 6.35mm headphone sockets plus a pre-out on one amplifier.
- Skip if
- You need the inputs confirmed or a DAC built in.
Why 3.5/5: Held back by the store's own terms contradicting each other and because no independent test of this model was checked for this review.
The page presents the H200 as a headphone amplifier and pre-amplifier in SMSL's 200 series, listed at $399. It uses a fully balanced discrete PLFC+ circuit, and the page lists 4.4mm balanced and 6.35mm single-ended headphone outputs, a maximum of 5W at 32Ω, THD+N of 0.00007% and a 131dB SNR. It also lists a toroidal transformer, linear power regulation, relay-based volume control, three-level gain and a laminated IPS display.

Options and pricing
One option is listed, Color: H200, at $399 and orderable when the page was read. There is no color, plug or cable choice on the page, and the box contents are not listed. The page names the PL200T and PL200 MKII CD players and the D200 DAC only as other 200-series products, so none of them is part of this option.
How it compares
The FiiO K13 R2R Desktop DAC & Headphone Amplifier costs $319.99 and, going by its name and spec line, includes an R2R DAC, while the H200 is named as an amplifier and pre-amplifier only. The TOPPING A30Pro NFCA Headphone Amplifier is $349.99 and cites up to 6W at 16 ohms, where the H200 page ties its 5W to 32Ω. The Soncoz SGA1 Headphone AMP & Pre-AMP is $449.99 and is also named as an amp and pre-amp. The H200 suits a desk that has a DAC and wants 4.4mm and 6.35mm sockets with a pre-out.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked
- 4.4mm balanced and 6.35mm single-ended headphone outputs are named
- A stated 5W at 32Ω, THD+N of 0.00007% and 131dB SNR, per the page
- Output impedance listed as approx 0Ω, with a low-gain mode aimed at high-sensitivity IEMs
- A pre-amp output for active speakers or power amplifiers, per the page
- Size (200x47.9x174.5mm) and weight (1.2Kg/2.65lbs) are given
Worth noting
- The page lists no input connectors, so what it accepts is not stated
- The pre-out connector type (RCA or XLR) is not named
- The 5W at 32Ω figure is tied to the balanced output only; no power figure is given for the 6.35mm output
- No measurement conditions are given for THD+N or SNR

What we couldn’t verify
- The page lists no input connectors and does not name the pre-out connector type.
- The 5W at 32Ω maximum is tied in the text to the balanced output; the page gives no power figure for the 6.35mm output.
- THD+N of 0.00007% and 131dB SNR come with no measurement conditions, and the sound claims are the page's words.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
