SMSL VMV A1PRO GaN Power Amplifier Review
A power amplifier listed at $495 whose pictures describe GaN (gallium-nitride) power devices and stereo or mono (BTL) modes. The spec table gives 160W x 2 into 4Ω and 85W x 2 into 8Ω in stereo, and 400W and 250W in mono. It suits buyers who want one amplifier for either layout.

Our verdict
Worth a look for buyers who want one amplifier that the pictures show in stereo and mono (BTL) modes, with 160W x 2 into 4Ω in stereo and RCA and XLR mono inputs at $495. Look elsewhere if you need distortion conditions for the power figures, which the pictured spec table does not give, or an in-the-box list, which the pictures read do not show. The headline SNR and dynamic range differ from the charts under them, and no independent test was checked for this review: every figure is the store's own.
- Best for
- Buyers who want a stereo or bridged-mono power amplifier with RCA and XLR inputs.
- Skip if
- You need distortion conditions for the power ratings, which the pictured spec table lacks, or an independent test.
Why 3.3/5: Held back by a page whose specification list is in pictures instead of text, with two pictures left unread, by the store's own terms contradicting each other, and by figures that are the store's own with no independent test checked for this review.
The SMSL VMV A1PRO is a power amplifier that the page lists at $495, and its pictures name gallium nitride (GaN) power devices. A spec table in them gives 160W x 2 into 4Ω and 85W x 2 into 8Ω in stereo, and 400W into 4Ω and 250W into 8Ω in mono (BTL) mode. Inputs are RCA and an XLR mono input, and a picture names the SMSL D1PRO as the DAC to pair with.

Options and pricing
A single option, A1 PRO, is listed at $495 and was orderable when the page was read, so there is no color or bundle choice. In the pictures it appears with a D1PRO DAC unit and, in mono mode, as two stacked A1PRO units; the option name lists only the A1 PRO, and no in-the-box list or remote picture appears among the pictures that were read.
How it compares
The TOPPING B100 Mono Pure Power Amplifier is $299 and named mono, while the A1PRO's pictures show stereo and mono (BTL) modes in one unit at $495. The TOPPING Mini300 Desktop Power Amplifier costs $139, the lowest price of the three, so it suits a tight budget. The SMSL VMV D1se + A1 Power Amplifier + XRL is listed at $1,379.99 and its name lists a D1se, an A1 Power Amplifier and XRL, whereas the A1PRO's pictures name the D1PRO as the DAC to pair.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked

- Size 210x47.6x201.6mm and weight 1.56kg are given
- Standby power under 0.5W and 40W consumption at normal volume are listed

- The power figures carry no distortion condition in the pictured spec table
- Two of the 10 pictures were not opened and no in-the-box list was among the eight that were read
Questions before you buy
Can the A1PRO run in mono?
The pictures say so: they show an XLR mono input, a Mono BTL Mode wiring diagram that uses the outer + and - speaker terminals, and mono ratings of 400W into 4Ω and 250W into 8Ω. A picture also claims a 4 times power increase in XLR mono mode, which it describes as two sets of stereo.
Which connectors does the rear picture show?
LINE IN (L and R), MONO IN (XLR), four speaker terminals marked STEREO (+ R -, - L +) and MONO, an AC IN 100V-240V inlet and a power switch.
How much power does it list?
Stereo: 160W x 2 at 4Ω and 85W x 2 at 8Ω. Mono: 400W x 1 at 4Ω and 250W x 1 at 8Ω. The table gives no distortion condition for them; standby power is under 0.5W and consumption is 40W at normal volume.
Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?
From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.
Can I send it back if I change my mind?
HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.
What warranty does HiFiGO give?
One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify
- The headlines read SNR UP TO 109DB and DYNAMIC RANGE UP TO 111DB, but the charts shown with them read 110.713 and 109.900dB (SNR) and 111.712 and 111.574dB (dynamic range).
- The unit logo looks like a stylized VMV and the word SMSL appears only in the text SMSL D1PRO DECODING; the weight prints as 1.56kg/3.44bs. GaN dead time of 15nS against 35nS for silicon, and the sound claims, are the pictures' own.
- No in-the-box list or remote picture was among the pictures read, and two pictures (PGA2311 volume chip and protection circuits; switching power supply and terminals) were not opened.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
