SMSL VMV D1se + A1 Amplifier Stack Review
A DAC and power amplifier pair, the VMV D1se and A1, listed at $1,379.99 with a 1m SKW OCC XLR cable per the page's package list. It suits buyers who want the three parts in one listing; no output power, DAC chip or sample rate appears in the page text or its four pictures.

Our verdict
Fits buyers who want a DAC, a power amplifier and an XLR cable in one listing at $1,379.99 and can accept a page with no output power, DAC chip or sample rates. Look elsewhere if you need to check power into your speakers or input formats before buying. No independent test was checked for this review: every figure is the store's own.

Why 3.3/5: Held back by a short page text with no specification list, whose few claims sit in a package list and four pictures, by the store's own terms contradicting each other, and by figures with no independent test checked for this review behind them.
This listing pairs the VMV D1se and the VMV A1 under the SMSL name for $1,379.99. The page's package list names the D1se, the A1, which it calls a Class A power amplifier, and a 1m SKW OCC XLR cable. Its four pictures print HIGH RESOLUTION USB DAC on the D1se and HIGH RESOLUTION POWER AMPLIFIER on the A1 and show their rear connectors, but they carry no power figure, DAC chip or sample rate.

Options and pricing
The sole option, D1se + A1 + SKW 1m XRL cable, is $1,379.99 and was orderable when the page was read. The package list gives three items: 1x SMSL VMV D1se, 1x SMSL A1 Class A Power Amplifier and 1x1m SKW OCC XLR Cable. The pictures show two braided black-and-gold XLR cables with a male and a female end and print no length, so the 1m comes from the page text and the option name.
How it compares
The SMSL VMA D2 DAC + VMA A2 Power Amplifier + 1m XLR Cable is the nearest sibling: its name lists a D2 DAC, an A2 power amplifier and a 1m XLR cable at $2,698.99, against $1,379.99 here. The SMSL VMV A1PRO Gallium Nitride Power Amplifer at $495 is named as an amplifier only, and the LADDER Chopin II R2R Preamplifier at $1,549 is named a preamplifier. Buyers who want a DAC, an amplifier and a cable together can compare the first two.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked
- The page text lists a three-part package: D1se, A1 power amplifier and a 1m SKW OCC XLR cable
- The pictured D1se rear shows XLR, RCA, I2S, coaxial, optical and USB connectors
- The pictured A1 rear shows two RCA sockets, a headphone-icon socket and four speaker binding posts
- Both pictured rear panels are marked AC IN 100V-240V with a power switch
- An XLR cable with male and female ends is pictured in one of the four pictures
Worth noting
- No output power, load, input sensitivity, DAC chip, sample rate, size or weight appears in the page text or the four pictures
- The pictures do not say which D1se connectors are inputs and which are outputs
- The units carry a VMV logo and no picture shows the word SMSL, although the title names SMSL
- Class A for the A1 comes only from the package list; no figure or circuit detail supports it
Questions before you buy
What is in the package?
The page's package list names 1x SMSL VMV D1se, 1x SMSL A1 Class A Power Amplifier and 1x1m SKW OCC XLR Cable. The pictures show a pair of braided SKW XLR cables and print no length.
Which connectors do the units show?
The D1se rear shows XLR R and L, RCA L and R, I2S, coaxial, optical, USB and an unlabeled antenna, and the pictures do not say which are inputs. The A1 rear shows two gold RCA sockets, a headphone-icon socket and four speaker binding posts.
Does the page list power or sample rates?
No: neither the page text nor its four pictures give output power, load, input sensitivity, DAC chip or sample rate. The unit displays in the pictures are screen mock-ups.
Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?
From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.
Can I send it back if I change my mind?
HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.
What warranty does HiFiGO give?
One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify
- The title names SMSL, but no picture shows that word and the units carry a VMV logo only; the pictures show two XLR cables while the package list names 1x1m cable, so it is unclear whether the listing covers a pair.
- Neither the page text nor the four pictures give output power, DAC chip, sample rate, size or weight; the display texts (MQA, 352.8kHz) are screen mock-ups, not specifications.
- Class A, called out for the A1 in the package list, is not backed by a figure or circuit detail in the pictures.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
