SMSL DO200 and AO200 Stack Review

A stack of an SMSL DO200 USB DAC and an AO200 power amplifier with an XLR cable, listed from $768. The page text gives no performance figures; the pictures read for this review show panel labels, not specifications, so it suits buyers who will check the specifications elsewhere.

Our verdict

A fit for a buyer who wants an SMSL DAC and power amplifier pair with an XLR cable in one order and will check the specifications elsewhere. Look elsewhere if you need output power, a DAC chip or sample rates, none of which the pictures read for this review give. The main caveat is that the title, the option names and the cable pictures do not match: neither pictured cable is SMSL-branded.

Why 3.3/5: Held back by a page whose text only points to detail links and has no specification list, by the store's own terms that contradict each other, and because no independent test was checked for this review: every figure is the store's own.

This SMSL listing sells a stack of two boxes: a DO200 USB DAC and an AO200 power amplifier, both marked S.M.S.L in the pictures, with an XLR cable chosen from two pairings. The price starts at $768 with a Gustard 1m XLR cable and is $788 with an SKW BG09 35cm XLR cable. The page text gives no performance figures; the pictures read for this review show panel labels and example display readouts, not specifications.

Options and pricing

Two pairings are listed, both orderable when the page was read: DO200+ AO200 + Gustard 1m XLR cable at $768 and DO200+ AO200 + SKW BG09 35cm XLR cable at $788. The cable photos show a Gustard balanced XLR cable (1m in its caption) and an SKW 6N OCC cable; neither is SMSL-branded. Beyond the option names the page text does not say which cable comes with the units, and the pictures read for this review give no in-the-box list.

How it compares

From $768 the stack costs more than the FiiO K9 Dual ES9068AS THX AAA QCC5124 Bluetooth 5.1 Desktop DAC and Headphone Amplifier at $499.99 and less than the DAART Yulong Aurora MQA ESS9068AS*2 DAC Headphone Amplifier at $999.99. Both of those titles name a DAC and a headphone amplifier as one product, while this listing is two boxes, a DAC and a power amplifier with speaker binding posts. It suits a buyer building around separate boxes and speakers; the one-product titles suit a headphone-first desk.

Shipping, returns and warranty

HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.

Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.

HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.

On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.

What we liked

  • An SMSL DAC and power amplifier are sold together, both marked S.M.S.L in the pictures
  • Rear labels show five DO200 inputs: AES/EBU, I2S, coaxial, optical and USB type B
  • XLR (3-pin) and RCA outputs on the DO200, and XLR sockets plus SPEAKERS R L binding posts on the AO200, per the labels
  • Two XLR cable pairings are priced $768 and $788, with the cable named in each option
  • Both units are labelled AC IN 100-240V

Worth noting

  • The pictures read for this review give no DAC chip, output power, THD, SNR, impedance, sample rates, size or weight
  • The cable photos show SKW and Gustard cables while the title says SMSL XLR Cables; neither is SMSL-branded
  • The title says DO200+ and AO200+, but the pictures name DO200 and AO200 with no plus sign
  • The picture does not say which AO200 jacks are inputs, and an antenna-type connector on the DO200 has no text saying what it is for
  • No accessory list appears in the pictures read for this review

Questions before you buy

What is in the DO200 and AO200 stack?

The pictures show a DO200 printed HIGH RESOLUTION USB DAC and an AO200 printed HIGH RESOLUTION POWER AMPLIFIER, both marked S.M.S.L. The option names add an XLR cable: an SKW BG09 35cm at $788 or a Gustard 1m at $768.

Which inputs and outputs are labelled?

DO200 rear: XLR (3-pin) and RCA outputs; AES/EBU (3-pin XLR), I2S, coaxial, optical and USB type B inputs. AO200 rear: two 3-pin XLR sockets labelled RIGHT and LEFT, four RCA jacks with a SW OUT bracket, USB type A and SPEAKERS R L binding posts. The picture does not say which AO200 jacks are inputs.

Does the page give power or DAC chip figures?

Not in the pictures read for this review: no output power, DAC chip, THD, SNR, impedance, sample rates, size or weight is stated. Display readouts such as MQA and 352.8kHz are example readouts, not specifications.

Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?

From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.

Can I send it back if I change my mind?

HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.

What warranty does HiFiGO give?

One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify

  • MISMATCH: the cable pictures show an SKW 6N OCC cable and a Gustard 1m balanced XLR cable, neither SMSL-branded, while the title says SMSL XLR Cables; no picture says which cable, if any, comes with the units beyond the option names.
  • The title says DO200+ and AO200+ but the pictures name DO200 and AO200 with no plus sign. The page text only points to separate detail links for each unit and cable, which this review did not follow.
  • No DAC chip, output power, THD, SNR, impedance, sample rate, size or weight appears in the pictures read for this review, and no text there says what the antenna-type connector on the DO200 is for.
  • HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
  • HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
