Ampapa H1 Class A Headphone Amp 4000mW Review
A pre-sale discrete Class A headphone amp and preamp built around custom PSVANE x Douk Audio ECC83 tubes, delivering up to 4000mW balanced for 16-600 ohm headphones.

Our verdict
The Ampapa H1 is a $179.99 headphone amplifier with a discrete Class A output stage and a custom ECC83 tube stage from PSVANE and Douk Audio. It delivers up to 4000mW into 16-600 ohm headphones through 4.4mm, 4-pin XLR or 6.35mm jacks, and doubles as a tube preamp with RCA and TRS outputs for power amps or active speakers. Three gain levels, a 1.5-inch OLED, 12V trigger and 0.04% THD round it out. It is a pre-sale item, so expect a lead time, and it has no speaker outputs.
- Best for
- Headphone listeners who want tube-flavored Class A power - up to 4W balanced - plus preamp outputs to anchor a desktop HiFi stack.
- Skip if
- You want to power passive speakers or need immediate shipping.
Why 3.7/5: Lifted by a full parameter list with power by gain at 32Ω, a packing list that includes the 12V adapter and tubes, and three headphone connectors plus preamp outputs. Held back by the pre-sale tag with no dispatch date and a $179.99 price whose 4W headline rests on page figures alone.
The Ampapa H1 is a Class A headphone amplifier and preamp priced at $179.99, currently sold as a pre-sale listing. It is built around a discrete Class A output stage for strong current drive, delivering up to 4000mW from its balanced high-gain output, and it is matched to headphones from 16 to 600 ohm so both sensitive models and harder-to-drive pairs have headroom.
Headphone connections cover the common HiFi formats: 4.4mm balanced, 4-pin XLR and 6.35mm. Power scales with the gain setting - balanced output is rated 4W high, 2W mid and 1W low, while the single-ended output is 1000mW, 500mW and 250mW - and low, mid and high gain make it easier to match either sensitive IEMs or stubborn planars.
As a preamp, the H1 offers 2x RCA and 1x TRS inputs plus 2x RCA and 1x TRS outputs, so a DAC, CD player and streamer can stay connected and the outputs can feed multiple power amps or active speakers; HP, Line and HP+Line modes choose between headphone output, preamp output or both. The tube stage uses exclusive PSVANE x Douk Audio ECC83 tubes and supports tube rolling, while a Japan NJW1195 volume IC keeps channel balance stable, pluggable op-amps invite tuning, and 0.04% THD+N and 113dB-plus SNR support clean signal performance. A 1.5-inch OLED, 12V trigger, low-noise relays, isolated tube power shielding and a CNC aluminum chassis complete the package.

How it compares
At $179.99 the H1 costs $40.00 less than the Douk Audio E2 ($219.99), the other tube amp here with 4-pin XLR, 4.4mm and 6.35mm jacks and RCA preamp outputs. The H1 page rates 4W balanced at 32Ω on high gain and gives three gain steps; the E2 page lists 2W on high gain and 0.55W on low gain without naming a load. The H1 runs from DC 12V at 2A or more, the E2 from DC 15V at 3A or more, and both pages list an adapter in the box. The E2 adds a VU meter and walnut panels; the H1 adds an OLED and a 12V trigger.
For balanced drive without tubes or a preamp stage, the Douk Audio U5PRO is $100.00 less at $79.99: its page lists 1500mW or more at 32Ω from XLR and 4.4mm outputs, but it takes a balanced XLR input only and no power adapter comes with it. Who it suits: the H1 fits someone with 4.4mm or XLR cables and hard-to-drive headphones who also wants line outputs for a desktop system, and who can wait out the pre-sale tag. The E2 suits a buyer who wants the VU meter and its ECF801 tube; the U5PRO suits a balanced chain on a tight budget.
Shipping, returns and warranty
- Shipping: Douk Audio's current shipping page says orders are generally processed no later than the next business day and arrive in 2-8 business days, with duties, taxes and customs fees included in the checkout price unless noted otherwise.
- Older shipping terms are still online: airmail at 10-25 days for parcels under 2 kg, DHL, UPS or FedEx at 5-8 days above that, and a line saying the store is not responsible for import duties. Check the delivery estimate and any duties at checkout.
- Returns: ask within 30 days of delivery and wait for approval before sending anything; an approved return has to ship within 7 days. Items need all packaging and accessories and no excessive wear, or the store can refuse them or refund part of the price. Refunds go to the original payment method after inspection.
- Not refunded: original and expedited shipping, duties, taxes and customs charges, unless the law requires it or the store made the error. The return page does not say who pays return postage, and the older refund page excludes mistaken orders and change-of-mind returns from free after-sale service.
- Warranty: 24 months from purchase for manufacturing defects, with free repair, a replacement unit and free shipping both ways for covered repairs. Drops, liquid, DIY repairs, lightning, extreme temperatures and misuse are excluded (partial fees may apply), and damage from weak packing on the way back may not be covered. The older refund page still says 1 year.
- Seller: the site is run by Shenzhen Anba Technology Co., Ltd (Shenzhen, China) and HONGKONG LONGSHENG Import and Export Trading Co., Limited (Hong Kong); support is by email at [email protected]. These terms cover orders placed on doukaudio.com; other sellers apply their own.
For this product, the page lists shipping from US, UK, EU, AU and China and shows Free Shipping, 2-8 Days Arrival, 30-Day Return and 2-Year Warranty badges near the price.
What we liked

- Three headphone connectors - 4.4mm, 4-pin XLR and 6.35mm - cover most full-size HiFi headphone cables
- Custom PSVANE x Douk Audio ECC83 tubes with tube rolling support for later fine-tuning
- Works as a preamp too: dual RCA and TRS outputs can feed power amps or active speakers, with HP, Line and HP+Line output modes
- Japan NJW1195 volume IC, pluggable op-amps, 1.5-inch OLED status display and 12V trigger in a CNC aluminum chassis
Worth noting
- Pre-sale item: expect a wait before dispatch rather than immediate shipping
- No speaker-level outputs - it drives headphones and feeds line-level gear, not passive speakers
- The 4W balanced headline is a page rating at 32 ohms with no distortion level or test setup behind it
Questions before you buy

What we couldn’t verify
- Pre-sale: the page title still carries a [Pre-Sale] tag on Oct 25, 2026 and gives no dispatch date, while the badges near the price say Free Shipping and 2-8 Days Arrival. The page does not say whether that estimate applies to a pre-sale order.
- Power: the page rates 4W, 2W and 1W balanced and 1000mW, 500mW and 250mW single-ended at 32Ω, but gives no distortion level or measurement setup for them; the 4000mW in the title is the balanced high-gain figure.
- THD+N 0.04%, SNR of at least 113dB and 20Hz-20kHz (±0.7dB) have no stated test conditions. 'Class A' and 'warmer, richer tube character' are maker descriptions, not measurements, and so is the page's claim of stable channel balance.
- The page does not say which plug the 12V adapter has for each shipping region (US, UK, EU, AU, China), nor what the 2-Year Warranty badge covers for this item.
