iBasso PB6 MACAW Tube Headphone Amp Review
A portable tube headphone amplifier from iBasso with four JAN6418 tubes, a Class AB mode, 3.5mm and 4.4mm ports and a stated 2300mW per channel with external 12V DC power, priced at $499. Its page text lists no DAC, so it suits buyers who already have a source.

Our verdict
Suits buyers who already have a source and want a tube headphone amplifier with stated battery hours, a 32Ω output figure and both 3.5mm and 4.4mm ports at $499. Look elsewhere if you want a built-in DAC or an output figure for battery use. Its warm and lush tube descriptions are the page's words, and each number is the store's own.

Why 3.5/5: Held back by terms that contradict each other across the store's pages and by every figure being the store's own, with no independent test checked for this review.
A Class AB mode sits alongside four JAN6418 tubes in the iBasso PB6 MACAW, which the page describes as a portable tube headphone amplifier. The Class AB mode uses four BUF634A op-amp chips for solid-state amplification. The page gives 2300mW per channel at 32Ω, 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced ports and a weight of 293grams, and HiFiGO's page prices it at $499.

Options and pricing
The only option is labeled iBasso PB6 under the Color heading, listed at $499 and orderable when the page was read; no crossed-out price appears. The ports are 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced, each listed as input and output, and a 12V DC input is listed for external power. The page text names no color choices, power adapter, cables or box contents.
How it compares
Where the PB6 is an amplifier with no DAC in its page text, the Cayin RU9 at $499.99 adds a DAC section, with two AK4493SEQ chips named in its title, against $499 here. The MUSE HiFi M6 Double is $390 and its title names JAN 6418 and IN-17. The xDuoo XD05 Bal2 is $429 and is a DAC and headphone amp by its title. The PB6 suits buyers who already have a source and want four tubes with a stated 2300mW; the RU9 suits those who want one box with a DAC.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked
- Four JAN6418 tubes plus a Class AB mode with four BUF634A op-amps, per the page
- The page ties 2300mW per channel to a 32Ω load
- Battery hours are stated for both modes: about 13.5 in Class AB and about 9.5 in Tube mode
- 3.5mm and 4.4mm ports, two-level gain and 0.5dB volume steps
- Weight and size are listed: 293grams and 140.7x78.9x19.6mm
Worth noting
- The page text ties the 2300mW figure to external 12V DC-In support and gives no output power on battery
- The page text lists no DAC chip or digital input, so it describes an amplifier only
- The battery hours come with no load, volume or output level in the page text

What we couldn’t verify
- The feature list gives 2300mW per channel with no load; the text adds 32Ω and links it to external 12V DC-In support, so the page text states no battery output, and gives the battery hours with no load or volume.
- Dual-mode means tube and Class AB in one line and high and low bandwidth in another, and the store's vendor field reads HiFiGo while the title and text name iBasso.
- Descriptions such as warm, lush, transparent and ultra-low distortion are the page's words, with no distortion figure in its text.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
