QULOOS QA390 MOD Desktop DAC/Player Review
A desktop DAC and music player with an ES9038PRO chip, Bluetooth 5.0 and a battery, listed at $2,099 in black, red or Ti-Grey. The page gives 1300mW at 32Ω on the balanced output, so it suits buyers who want a balanced headphone output and a TF card slot.

Our verdict
Fits buyers who want a desktop DAC with balanced and single-ended headphone outputs, a battery and a TF card slot, and who accept $2,099. Look elsewhere if you need output jack types confirmed, a lower price or measurements from someone other than the store. The claim that it is over 95% similar to the limited QA390LE is the page's own, with no data given for it.
- Best for
- Buyers who want a balanced headphone output, a battery and a TF card slot in a desktop DAC.
- Skip if
- You need output jack types confirmed or an independent measurement.
Why 3.6/5: A specification list with 17 lines of figures, including output power at three loads, lifts it. Two things hold it back: the store's own terms contradict each other, and no independent test was checked for this review.
Priced at $2,099 on HiFiGO's page, the QA390 MOD is a QULOOS desktop DAC that the store title also calls a music player. The page names an ES9038PRO chip, PCM up to 32Bit/384KHz and DSD256, USB, Bluetooth 5.0, coaxial and optical inputs, balanced and single-ended headphone outputs, about 8.5 hours of battery life and a TF card slot. It describes the MOD as a mass-production version of the limited QA390LE.

Options and pricing
Three colors are listed, Black, Red and Ti-Grey, each $2,099 and orderable when the page was read; the page calls titanium gray a limited-edition color that matches the QH1 headphone amplifier. Its package list names the QA390 mod, a SanDisk 64GB TF card with card set, a USB 3.0 card reader, a USB A to port B cable, a Type-C charging cable, an external power supply and an infrared remote controller.
How it compares
Prices side by side: $2,099 here, $246.75 for the AUNE X8 XVIII, $159 for the xDuoo DT01 and $599 for the SMSL PL200 MK2. The X8 XVIII quotes 32-Bit/768kHz and native DSD512, above the 32Bit/384KHz and DSD256 here; the DT01 lists the same 32-Bit/384kHz and DSD256; the PL200 MK2 is titled as a CD player. This page lists balanced headphone output power and a battery, so it suits buyers who want those; the other three suit a lower budget.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked
- ES9038PRO chip with a stated clock jitter of 0.038 picoseconds and dual AS338 clocks
- Output power listed for balanced and single-ended headphone outputs at 32Ω, 300Ω and 600Ω
- USB, Bluetooth 5.0, coaxial and optical inputs, plus a TF or SD card slot up to 512GB (FAT32), per the page
- Battery listed at about 8.5 hours, charged by Type-C or DC port
- Dimensions of 20cm x 18cm x 4.45cm are given
Worth noting
- The page text does not say which jacks the single-ended and balanced outputs use
- The spec label says 'Internal Storage' but the text describes an external SD or TF card
- The 3.1kg weight includes the package, so the unit's own weight is not given
- Battery life of about 8.5 hours has no playback conditions
- The claim of over 95% similarity to the QA390LE comes with no data
- Every figure is the store's own, and no independent test was checked for this review
Questions before you buy
What output power does the QA390 MOD list?
The page lists single-ended 1000mW at 32Ω, 360mW at 300Ω and 180mW at 600Ω, and balanced 1300mW at 32Ω, 1200mW at 300Ω and 720mW at 600Ω. It gives no distortion figure for these.
What inputs, storage and battery does it list?
USB, Bluetooth 5.0, coaxial and optical inputs; one external SD or TF card (FAT32) up to 512GB, which the spec section labels 'Internal Storage'; and about 8.5 hours of battery, charged over Type-C or the DC port in 4-5 hours with fast charging or 8-9 hours with standard charging.
How does it differ from the QA390LE?
The page says the MOD uses a mass-production process and has no numbered limited-edition nameplate, while sharing the ES9038PRO chip and the power and analog circuit. It claims overall similarity above 95%, with no data given.
Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?
From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.
Can I send it back if I change my mind?
HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.
What warranty does HiFiGO give?
One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify
- The page claims the sound is very close to the QA390LE, with overall similarity above 95% and a difference the page says most audiophiles may not notice; no measurement or method is given.
- The spec section labels the storage 'Internal Storage' but describes one external SD or TF card; battery life is 'about 8.5 hours' in the specs and 'up to 8.5 hours of playback time' in the features, with no playback conditions, and the 3.1kg weight includes the package.
- Output power is listed at 32Ω, 300Ω and 600Ω with no distortion level, 'LDAC high-definition Bluetooth input comparable to local playback' is a claim without data, and the output jack types are not described.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
