RELAXONCHAIR MK-V Plus Massage Chair Review
RELAXONCHAIR's long-running mid-range chair: a 50-inch L-track with a body scan, 38 airbags, lower-back heat and nine auto programs, in a space-saving recliner. $2,499 in black or gray, direct from the maker, with free curbside delivery in the continental US.

Our verdict
The MK-V Plus suits a buyer who wants a full-body chair with a long L-track, plenty of airbags and lower-back heat at a mid-range price, and who accepts RELAXONCHAIR's terms: a return costs 15% plus freight, and after year one the warranty covers parts only. It has the most customer reviews of the brand's chairs in stock, but it is also the oldest design. The YUKON-4D adds 4D rollers, heated rollers and voice control for $4,000 more; the Jasper costs $900 less and arrives fully assembled.

- Skip if
- You want heat beyond the lower back, a newer design, or easy returns and a longer full warranty.
The MK-V Plus is RELAXONCHAIR's mid-range massage chair, sold direct by the Fullerton, California company in black or gray for the same $2,499; the product page says it is designed in the USA and made in China. The manual linked from the page is titled for the MK-V's 2018–2019 edition, and the page describes the Plus as an update with independent leg movement, smoother and quieter operation and extra padding. The store shows a crossed-out $3,999; this review quotes what you would pay.
The back mechanism uses six rollers on a 50-inch L-track that runs under the seat, and RELAXONCHAIR says the track suits users up to 6'5". A second-generation body scan measures from the seat to the shoulders before a session. There are five techniques — kneading, tapping, the two combined, shiatsu and rolling — and three levels each for the massage speed and the air intensity.
The 38 airbags work on the shoulders, arms, hands, waist, thighs, calves and feet, and the feet also get dual rollers with heel pressure points at two levels. Heat is limited to the lower back. Two customers on the store's page found the foot rollers hard or aggressive at first, and the store's FAQ suggests socks or a towel, or turning the foot rollers off.
Nine auto programs — five regular ones and four specialty ones, including yoga and stretch — run for up to 30 minutes, alongside full manual control, and the remote shows English or Korean. The 2018–2019 manual linked from the page describes five auto programs and an 8-minute quick session instead, so ask the store for the Plus's own manual if the details matter to you.
A one-touch zero-gravity recline tilts you back with your legs raised, and the footrest extends 6 inches for taller users. Because the chair slides forward as it reclines, the spec table asks for 3.5 inches behind it; the feature list says 3. It measures 60 inches long, 34 wide and 49 high upright and 69 inches long reclined. The spec table gives a 300 lb limit and the feature list 320 lb, so plan around 300.
The chair weighs 234 lb and ships in one box, 330 lb with the pallet; you connect the linkage on the footrest. Delivery is free by freight to the curb in the continental US, in 5–7 business days, with a 2–4 hour appointment window and a signature; Alaska and Hawaii cost extra, and P.O. boxes, military addresses and US territories aren't served. White Glove delivery, which carries it in, unpacks and sets it up and takes the packaging away, costs $400 more.
The 3-year limited warranty covers parts and labor in the first year, including an on-site visit where one is available or transport to a repair center. In the second year it covers parts only, and you pay for labor or shipping; in the third, only the main frame. It covers the original buyer and home use only. You can request a return within 30 days of delivery if the chair is unused and in its original packaging, minus a 15% restocking fee, and you pay the return shipping. The same policy says sale items can't be returned, so ask how that applies before you buy.
The store's page for the black chair shows seven customer reviews: four five-star, one four-star and two three-star, and one reviewer preferred the older MK-II Plus. The MK-V manual on the site has no list of people who shouldn't use the chair, but RELAXONCHAIR's YUKON-4D and Jasper manuals tell people with conditions such as osteoporosis, spine or disc problems, heart disease or a pacemaker, and pregnant women not to use those chairs, or only with a doctor's advice. Within the range, the Jasper ($1,599) arrives fully assembled, and the YUKON-4D ($6,499) adds 4D rollers and 76 airbags.
What we liked
- A 50 in L-track that reaches under the seat, with a body scan that measures from the seat to the shoulders
- 38 airbags, dual foot rollers and lower-back heat for $4,000 less than the brand's YUKON-4D
- Slides forward as it reclines, so it needs about 3.5 in behind it, per the spec table
- Ships in one box with only the footrest linkage to connect
- The most customer reviews of the brand's three chairs in stock: seven, with four at five stars
- Free curbside delivery in the continental US; the first-year warranty covers parts, labor and transport to a repair center
Worth noting
- A return costs a 15% restocking fee (about $375) plus return freight on a 330 lb shipment
- The refund policy says sale items can't be returned, and the store shows this chair marked down from $3,999
- Warranty cover shrinks fast: parts only in year 2, the frame only in year 3, and it isn't transferable
- An older design: the manual linked from the page is the MK-V's 2018–2019 edition, which lists five auto programs, not nine
- Heat reaches the lower back only, and two store reviewers found the foot rollers hard or aggressive at first
Questions before you buy
Is the gray MK-V Plus different from the black one?
Only in color, per the two product pages: both cost $2,499 and share the same description and specs.
How much space does it need?
About 34 inches of width and 3.5 inches behind it, per the spec table. It's 60 inches long upright and 69 inches long reclined.
Does it come assembled?
Mostly. It ships in one box, and you connect the linkage on the footrest. White Glove delivery, at $400 extra, brings it inside and sets it up.
Can I return it?
You can request a return within 30 days of delivery if it's unused and in its original packaging. RELAXONCHAIR keeps a 15% restocking fee and you pay the return freight. The policy also says sale items can't be returned, so ask the store first.
What does the warranty cover?
Parts and labor in year 1, parts only in year 2 (you pay for labor or shipping), and only the main frame in year 3. It covers the original buyer and home use only.
