SMSL VMA D2 + A2 Amplifier Stack Review
A DAC and power amplifier pair listed at $2,698.99 with a 1m SKW OCC XLR cable. The page text names Bluetooth with UAT and LDAC, PCM 32-Bit/768kHz and native DSD512 decoding and a sub-woofer pre-output, all under the heading Features of VMA A2, so it is unclear which unit carries them.

Our verdict
For buyers who want a DAC and a power amplifier together at $2,698.99 and who accept a feature list without power or impedance figures. Look elsewhere if you need output power, a load rating or a feature list that names each unit. No independent test was checked for this review: every figure is the store's own.
- Best for
- Buyers who want a USB DAC and a power amplifier in one listing with Bluetooth and DSD512 named.
- Skip if
- You need output power or load figures, or a feature list that names each unit.
Why 3.3/5: Pulled down by a page with no specification list as text, only a short feature list in place of figures, by the store's own terms contradicting each other, and by claims that no independent test checked for this review backs.
Priced at $2,698.99, this SMSL bundle pairs a D2 USB DAC with an A2 power amplifier and a 1m SKW OCC XLR cable. The page text lists the three parts and a feature list headed Features of VMA A2: Bluetooth with High-Res UAT and LDAC, a sub-woofer pre-output, a second-gen XMOS 16-Core USB processor, and PCM 32-Bit/768kHz and native DSD512 decoding. The pictures show the two black units and the cables.

Options and pricing
The one option, named SMSL VMA D2 DAC + VMA A2 Power Amplifier + 1m SKW XLR Cable, costs $2,698.99 and was orderable when the page was read. The page text lists 1xSMSL D2, 1x SMSL A2 and 1x1m SKW OCC XLR Cable. The pictures show the A2 stacked above the D2 and a pair of braided XLR cables with a male and a female end; no picture prints a cable length.
How it compares
The SMSL VMV D1se + A1 Power Amplifier + XRL is the closest sibling, named as a D1se plus an A1 power amplifier plus XRL, at $1,379.99 against $2,698.99 here. The SMSL VMV A1PRO Gallium Nitride Power Amplifer at $495 is named as an amplifier alone, and the TOPPING Mini300 Desktop Power Amplifier costs $139. Neither lists a DAC in its name, so a buyer would need a separate source with either; this listing suits buyers who want a DAC and amplifier together.
Shipping, returns and warranty
HiFiGO sells from hifigo.com and says every order leaves its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after it is placed, and says its delivery times are estimates, not promises. Its shipping policy gives the United States 1-2 weeks (about 10 days on average) by Priority and 6-10 days by Premium, both with duties and taxes prepaid by the store; Canada 2-3 weeks; the United Kingdom 1-2 weeks; and Australia 10-15 days. Express couriers (DHL, UPS, FedEx) take 3-7 days, but then the buyer pays any duties and taxes. No shipping page names New Zealand, PO boxes are not accepted, and the free-shipping thresholds differ between the store's own pages, so check the cart. One of its two shipping pages adds that a lost parcel on an order above $50 gets only a 50% refund. A US buyer reported a $40 tariff charge in August 2025, after which HiFiGO said it had added a customs notice at checkout.
Read the return terms before you order. The homepage advertises 7-day returns. Both of HiFiGO's policy pages offer a 7-day dead-on-arrival cover (a replacement or a full refund, with the return postage refunded) and also describe 30-day returns, but a request made 7 to 30 days after delivery loses 30% of the MSRP as a restocking fee (10% more if the packaging is incomplete), plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same pages says there is no refund or exchange once 7 days have passed. One version recommends reselling an opened product locally. Custom IEMs and custom cables cannot be returned, no return address is published, and buyers describe sending items back to China.
HiFiGO's warranty runs one year from the order date for parts and labor; its policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles at one year and gives cables and adapters three months. HiFiGO decides between repair and replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and faulty items go back for service, not for a refund. Claims go to [email protected], the only contact the store lists: its pages name no company, street address or phone, and its terms are governed by the laws of China.
On Trustpilot, HiFiGO had 4.6 out of 5 from 378 reviews when we checked on 2026-10-28 (91% five-star, 5% one-star), and it had replied to about 75% of negative reviews; Trustpilot notes the store has not invited customers to review recently. The one-star reviews mostly concern the short return window and the deductions on returns, items listed in stock that turned out back-ordered, slow email support and a tariff charge on a US delivery in 2025. HiFiGO says its products are genuine and come in the brands' retail packaging; it does not claim to be an authorized dealer.
What we liked
- The page text lists the whole bundle: D2, A2 and a 1m SKW OCC XLR cable
- The feature list names PCM 32-Bit/768kHz and native DSD512 decoding
- Bluetooth with High-Res UAT and LDAC among the codecs named, plus a sub-woofer pre-output
- An all-aluminum CNC chassis and an all-aluminum remote control are listed
- Multiple equalizer modes are listed
Worth noting
- No output power, load, impedance, DAC chip or Bluetooth version is given in the page text or the three pictures
- The feature list is headed Features of VMA A2 yet names USB processing and PCM and DSD decoding, so it is unclear which unit has which feature
- Unit labels read only A2 and D2; no picture text reads the title's VMA or SMSL, and the logo on each unit could not be read
- The pictures show two XLR cables while the text lists one 1m cable
Questions before you buy
What formats does the feature list name?
The page text names PCM 32-Bit/768kHz decoding and native DSD512 decoding, Bluetooth with High-Res UAT, LDAC and more codecs, and a second-gen XMOS 16-Core USB processor. The list is headed Features of VMA A2, and the pictures label the D2 as the USB DAC, so it is unclear which unit carries them.
What is in the bundle?
The page text lists 1xSMSL D2, 1x SMSL A2 and 1x1m SKW OCC XLR Cable. The pictures show two braided black-and-gold SKW XLR cables beside a booklet, and none prints a length.
Does it have a sub-woofer output?
The feature list names a Sub-woofer Pre-Output, with no connector type or output level given.
Where does HiFiGO ship from, and how long does it take?
From its warehouse in China, usually 1-3 business days after the order. The shipping policy gives 1-2 weeks to the US by Priority (6-10 days by Premium), both with duties and taxes prepaid, 2-3 weeks to Canada, 1-2 weeks to the UK and 10-15 days to Australia. Express couriers take 3-7 days, but the buyer pays any duties.
Can I send it back if I change my mind?
HiFiGO gives 7 days to report an item that arrives dead, damaged or wrong. Its policy also describes 30-day returns, but requests 7 to 30 days after delivery lose 30% of the MSRP plus shipping both ways and duties, and the FAQ on the same page says no refund or exchange after 7 days. Ask [email protected] before you open the box.
What warranty does HiFiGO give?
One year from the order date for parts and labor, for faults in build or materials (the policy names desktop DACs and amps, IEMs and dongles; cables and adapters get three months). HiFiGO chooses repair or replacement, the buyer pays the shipping, and a faulty item is serviced rather than refunded. Claims go to [email protected].

What we couldn’t verify
- The title says VMA D2, VMA A2 and a 1m cable, but the unit labels read only A2 and D2; no picture text reads VMA or SMSL, no picture states a length, and the logos on both units and a caption on the D2 display could not be read.
- The feature list is headed Features of VMA A2 yet includes USB processing and decoding, while the pictures label the A2 a power amplifier and the D2 a USB DAC, so it is unclear which unit has which feature.
- No output power, load, DAC chip or Bluetooth version is given, Digital Feedback Technology is claimed without a figure, and the pictures show two XLR cables while the text lists one 1m cable.
- HiFiGO's policy pages contradict each other: 30-day returns with a 30% restocking fee in one place, no refund or exchange after 7 days in the FAQ.
- HiFiGO's pages name no company, street address or phone number; the only contact given is [email protected].
