Our verdict
A fit for owners of an UNA, Flite, Connect or Stingray Tree Tent who want to pitch on the ground in a garden or where three suitable trees are missing, at $109 to $149 depending on the model. Look elsewhere if you own a Safari model and need a kit named for it, since the page lists weights for those but no matching option. The main caveat is the thin specification: an 8,000HH rating and weights are given, but no ground sheet dimensions or fabric.
- Best for
- Owners of an UNA, Flite, Connect or Stingray who want to pitch on the ground in a garden or where trees are missing.
- Skip if
- You own a Safari model and need a kit named for it, or you only ever hang from trees.
Why 3.6/5: Lifted by four clearly priced kits, a stated ground sheet rating, a box contents list and weights for each model; held back by the missing specification table and no independent test of these exact kits.
Ground Conversion Kits are the page's answer to camping where there are no suitable trees: they let a Tentsile Tree Tent be pitched on the ground like a traditional tent, which the listing also suggests for a garden. Four kits are sold, UNA 1-Person at $109, Flite 2-Person at $119, Connect 2-Person at $139 and Stingray 3-Person at $149, with an 8,000HH rated ground sheet sized for each model. The page says they work with both Generation 2 and Generation 3 tents.
Options and pricing
The option is named Which Tent? and has four choices: Stingray 3-Person Ground Kit at $149, Connect 2-Person Ground Kit at $139, Flite 2-Person Ground Kit at $119 and UNA 1-Person Ground Kit at $109. None showed as out of stock when read. The ground sheet is described as sized for the tent model, so the kit follows the tent rather than offering sizes of its own. The spec lines also list weights for Safari Connect, Safari Stingray and Safari Vista, which are not separate options.
How it compares
The Double-Bubble Insect Mesh Enclosure also starts at From $109 and is priced by tent, and this page suggests pairing a ground kit with a Double-Bubble to add another level. The Insulated Quilts list From $129 with a size line naming 3-Person Tree Tents & Hammocks, and the Wall (3.0) lists $80 as a tent wall for wind and rain. The kits' own listing gives the 8,000HH rating for the ground sheet.
Shipping, returns and warranty
Shipping is free on orders over $199 sent from the US (lower 48) and EU countries; for Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand the page says its rates are kept as low as it can and gives a rough guide of $10 for most accessories and $20 for heavier items inside the US mainland. Average delivery is 3 to 5 working days in the US and EU and 7 to 10 days for the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. PO Box addresses are refused. The page says no extra taxes or duties apply to purchases from the US, EU, Canada, Australia or the UK, optional cover from Route can be added at checkout, and free shipping covers the first delivery attempt only; stack and accessory parts can come from different warehouses and arrive in separate packages. Returns: unused, unopened products in their original packaging can go back within 30 days of receipt, and opened or tested products can too, with a restocking fee the page gives as $20 for an unopened box and $50 for a used product (another line on the same page says $30 for all non-warranty returns). You pay return shipping on opened products unless they are defective or were sent wrongly, pre-loved and clearance sales are final, Canadian returns go to a US return centre with duties paid, and EU returns that are not warranty cases go to the UK. Warranty: products bought on tentsile.com after January 2025 carry a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects when used as the manuals say; straps and ratchets are covered for 5 years and a rainfly is meant to be replaced about every 3 years. The exclusions include poles and pegs, wear and tear, UV degradation (fabric rated for 1,500 hours for black mesh, 2,500 hours for green fabric and 3,500 hours for Safari fabric), snow load over 1 inch, high winds and products bought from third parties. Orders from $35 to $2,000 can be split into four payments with Zip, ClearPay, PayPal or Afterpay.
Before you buy
Tentsile's page header says "Rated 4.5/5" with "1100+ reviews" and "120,000+ Happy Customers"; these are the store's own figures and were not checked. Independent coverage we could open is thin: a hands-on review of the Connect by TechGadgetsCanada (March 2024, about 8 set-ups and 4 to 5 nights) found a steep learning curve, workable trees at only about half of its stops and one cold night, and a Wilderness Times write-up of the Stingray summarises specs and owner feedback without showing any hands-on testing. Tentsile's own pages set limits that matter, for example a recommended set-up height of 1.2m / 4ft on its Trilogy page, a 1 inch snow-load limit in its warranty terms and an FAQ warning that tension loads can reach 15kN, so only healthy trees should be used. The store also warns about copycat sites, and its returns and warranty terms apply to purchases made on tentsile.com.
What we liked
- Four kits priced by tent, from $109 to $149, each with a ground sheet sized for its model, per the page
- An 8,000HH rating is stated for the ground sheet
- The box contents are listed: ground sheet, pegs, bungee cords and an anodized aluminium pole section
- Weights are given for every tent model named, from 1.4kg / 3.08lbs (UNA) to 3.2kg / 7.04lbs (Stingray, Safari Stingray, Safari Vista)
- The page says the kits fit both Generation 2 and Generation 3 tents, and that a branch, extendable pole or bike wheel can replace the pole
Worth noting
- Only four kits are sold; Safari Connect, Safari Stingray and Safari Vista appear only in the weight list, with no kit named for them
- No ground sheet dimensions or fabric are given beyond the 8,000HH rating, and there is no specification table
- The page positions it as a fallback for gardens or places without 3 suitable trees, at an extra $109 to $149 depending on the tent
Questions before you buy
Which tents do the Ground Conversion Kits fit?
The options are Stingray 3-Person, Connect 2-Person, Flite 2-Person and UNA 1-Person. The page says the kits are compatible with Generation 2 and Generation 3 tents, and its weight list also names Safari Connect, Safari Stingray and Safari Vista.
What is in the kit?
The page lists a ground sheet, pegs, bungee cords and an anodized aluminium pole section. It adds that a branch, an extendable pole or even a bike wheel can replace the pole for the porch area or entry point.

How long does delivery take?
The shipping page says average delivery is 3 to 5 working days in the US and EU and 7 to 10 days for the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, with free shipping over $199 from the US (lower 48) and EU. Some stack and accessory parts can ship from different warehouses and arrive separately.

What we couldn’t verify
- Weights are listed for Safari Connect, Safari Stingray and Safari Vista, but the option list has no kit named for them, so it is not clear which kit those models use.
- The ground sheet is described as 8,000HH rated and sized for the tent model, but no ground sheet dimensions or fabric are given.
- Independent testing of this exact product: none found; the outside coverage located covers the Connect (hands-on, 2024) and the Stingray (specs summary).
- "Rated 4.5/5, 1100+ reviews" and "120,000+ Happy Customers" are the store's own page-header claims, not checked.
- The returns page gives a $50 restocking fee for used products and a $30 fee for non-warranty returns in different places.
