XR Cryo Plunge 2025 Deluxe Chiller and Heater Review
Cryo Innovations' standalone cold plunge chiller and heater, the unit sold with its XR acrylic tubs. It cools or heats the water, runs it through a top-mounted filter and an ozone sanitizer, and works with a phone app. $3,600 direct, for a tub you already own.

Our verdict
The 2025 Deluxe Chiller and Heater suits someone who already has a tub or tank and wants the cooling, heating, filtering and ozone sanitizing that come with XR's acrylic tubs, with app control. The store gives no power or capacity figures for it, its page states no warranty, and returns cost freight both ways and exclude sale items. Ask Cryo Innovations for the spec sheet, the hose fittings and the warranty in writing before you buy.
- Best for
- Owners of a tub or tank who want cooling, heating, filtering and ozone in one app-controlled unit on household power.
- Skip if
- You want a published spec sheet and warranty, easy returns, or a complete plunge rather than a chiller alone.
The 2025 Deluxe Chiller and Heater is the unit Cryo Innovations ships with its XR Cryo Plunge acrylic tubs, sold on its own for $3,600 next to a crossed-out $5,400. It's for a tub you already have: the unit stands beside the tub on wheels, pumps the water through itself by hoses, cools or heats it, filters it and sanitizes it with ozone. The Newport Beach, California company sells it through its XR Cryo Plunge store. This review quotes what you would pay.
The store's page lists a top-mounted filter that it says takes seconds to change, chilling and heating in one unit, energy-saving features, an easy-to-use control panel, and automatic shutdown and system alerts to protect the unit and other equipment. Its description pitches the chiller for industrial, commercial and laboratory use, and the page gives no power, capacity, size or weight figures.
The user manual on the store's 2025 instructions page is version 6, dated May 2024, and covers XR chillers in general. It shows the filter in a side compartment, so the 2025 unit may differ in some details. It rates the Super Chiller at 3,050 W of cooling capacity from 1,170 W of input power and the Regular Chiller at 1,520 W from 640 W, both on 100–127 V, 60 Hz, with heating as an option, R410A refrigerant, a self-priming circulation pump, an external cartridge filter and a built-in ozone sanitizer. The water temperature can be set from 3 to 42 °C (37 to 107 °F). The store doesn't say which rating this unit matches; an earlier version of its acrylic tub page listed 110 V and 3,050 W (1 HP) of cooling for the chiller sold with it.
The manual's accessory list for its chillers includes water pipes, quick connectors, rubber seals, spare filter elements and a plastic filter wrench. It doesn't give hose sizes, so check with the store that the fittings suit your tub's inlet and outlet before you order.
The chiller has a touch panel, and the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app controls it from an iOS or Android phone over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. You can set the temperature, switch between °C and °F, set how long the ozone runs (up to 5 minutes), see the water flow, lock the screen, set an on/off timer and let it restart on its own after a power cut. A warning icon lights up when there's a fault.
The manual asks for at least 50 cm (about 20 inches) of free space around the unit, an air temperature between 1 and 45 °C (34–113 °F) while it runs, and the filter element always in place; don't turn it upside down, and drain its internal pipes before storage. Cryo Innovations' chemical sheet says not to fill the tub with softened water, warns that a chiller running without water flow can freeze and be damaged, and says to empty the tub, filter and chiller if the system stops filtering or is switched off. The manual lists CE certification; it doesn't mention a UL or ETL listing.
The store's shipping policy says orders usually ship in 4 to 6 weeks, depending on inventory, the quantity ordered and your location, and a sales rep gives you the date; shipping is calculated at checkout. Returns must be requested in writing within 30 days of delivery and need a Return Authorization number, and the equipment must come back undamaged. You pay both the original and the return shipping, which come out of your refund, and the store's refund policy also says sale items can't be returned. The chiller's page states no warranty; earlier store pages and current dealer listings give a one-year warranty on XR plunge systems, with 2- and 3-year options for sale.
If you don't have a tub yet, the XR acrylic tub comes with this unit from $5,500, and the inflatable tub comes with a Super Chiller from $4,199. Neither the manual nor the store's pages say who should avoid cold-water immersion or for how long, so ask your doctor first if you have a health condition.

Questions before you buy
Does it come with a tub?
No. It's the chiller and heater only, for a tub you already own. The XR acrylic tubs come with it, from $5,500.
What power does it need?
The store's page doesn't say. The XR manual rates its chillers for 100–127 V, 60 Hz, with the Super Chiller drawing 1,170 W; ask the store to confirm the 2025 unit's figures.
How cold and how warm can it go?
The XR manual gives a settable range of 37 to 107 °F (3–42 °C). The store quotes 38 °F as the lowest for its tubs, and the air temperature around the tub affects what you get.
How long does delivery take?
The store's shipping policy says orders usually ship in 4 to 6 weeks, depending on inventory and your location, and a sales rep gives you the date. The shipping cost is calculated at checkout.
Can I return it?
You must request a return in writing within 30 days and get a Return Authorization number. You pay both the original and the return shipping, taken out of your refund, and the policy says sale items can't be returned, so ask the store before you buy.
