Cold Plunges Compared: XR Cryo Tubs vs a Sweaty Yeti Plunge Room
From a $3,600 chiller for a tub you own to a $44,400 insulated plunge room: XR Cryo's tubs come with a chiller (most versions also heat), and Sweaty Yeti builds a room for up to two tubs.
A cold plunge can be as simple as a chiller hosed to a tub you already own or as involved as a room built for it. This page compares four ways to buy one from XR Cryo Plunge, a California store, with Sweaty Yeti's Plunge Max, a factory-built plunge room from Utah.
XR's tubs come with a chiller that cools the water and, on most versions, heats it too, with ozone sanitizing and app control on household power; orders usually ship in 4–6 weeks. What XR's current pages don't publish is a full spec sheet: power figures, warranty terms and, for some models, dimensions. Sweaty Yeti publishes more, but its room starts at $44,400 plus the site work.
Returns are costly with both. XR asks for a written request within 30 days and a Return Authorization number, and you pay shipping both ways; its standard refund policy also says sale items can't be returned, though its separate refund page doesn't mention that, so ask before you buy. Sweaty Yeti's deposit is refundable for five days only.

1. If you already own a tub: the chiller alone
XR Cryo Plunge Chiller and Heater
$3,600 buys XR's 2025 chiller/heater on wheels, which hoses to a tub or tank you already own and adds cooling, heating, a cartridge filter and ozone, run from the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The store's page publishes no power, size or warranty figures for it, so ask before you order.
- Best for
- Owners of a tub or tank who want cooling, heating, filtering and ozone in one app-controlled unit on household power.
- Skip if
- You want a published spec sheet and warranty, easy returns, or a complete plunge rather than a chiller alone.

2. Lowest price for a complete plunge
XR Cryo Plunge Inflatable Tub
An inflatable tub that packs away, with XR's Super Chiller (3,050 W of cooling from 1,170 W on 100–127 V household power, per the manual) for $4,199, or the hot-and-cold version for $4,499. The current product page lists no size or warranty; the size here is from the brand's dimension graphic.
- Best for
- Buyers who want a chilled, ozone-sanitized plunge on household power that packs away, at the lowest price in the XR range.
- Skip if
- You want published specs and warranty terms up front, easy returns, or delivery within a couple of weeks.

3. Freestanding acrylic tub, sized to your height
XR Cryo Plunge Acrylic Tub
A freestanding acrylic tub in two sizes, Standard for users under 5'9" ($5,500) and Extra Long for 5'9" to 7' ($6,500), with the 2025 chiller/heater, ozone and an underwater light included. A water-catcher basin adds $150 or $650. The page gives no power figures or warranty terms.
- Best for
- Buyers who want a freestanding acrylic plunge with heating, an underwater light and ozone on household power, sized to their height.
- Skip if
- You want published specs and warranty terms up front, easy returns, or delivery within a couple of weeks.

4. Design pick: a see-through front panel
XR Cryo Plunge WINDOW Acrylic Tub
The acrylic tub's chiller/heater in a design-led tub with a see-through front panel, a black top rail and a headrest, plus three months of non-chlorine chemicals, for $3,000 more than the Standard acrylic tub. The store's page doesn't list its dimensions or water volume, so ask before you order.
- Best for
- Buyers who want the most design-led XR tub, with a see-through front panel, a headrest, heating and an underwater light.
- Skip if
- You want the same chiller for $3,000 less, published dimensions, easy returns, or delivery within a couple of weeks.

5. A whole insulated plunge room
Sweaty Yeti Plunge Max
Not a tub but an 8 × 17 ft insulated building for cold plunging, with one tub and room for a second ($9,180), delivered fully built within 250 miles. It costs more than five times as much as any XR tub, needs a pad, a water line and a 240 V circuit (60 A per the order page), and its plumbing must be winterized in freezing climates without continuous heat.
- Best for
- People who want a daily cold plunge in a sheltered, insulated room — alone or two at a time.
- Skip if
- You want a sauna too, or an outdoor plunge tub on its own would do.
How we compared
We compared the products using XR Cryo Plunge's product pages, its chiller manual and its shipping and refund pages, and Sweaty Yeti's Plunge Max model and order pages, FAQ, features sheet and terms, all read on October 17, 2026. We haven't tested them; the figures are the brands' own.
Water temperatures come from XR's chiller manual; the store quotes 38 °F as the practical low. Where a page doesn't publish a figure, the table says so rather than estimating it.

Questions before you buy
How cold do the XR tubs get?
XR's chiller manual gives a settable range of 37–107 °F (3–42 °C), and the store quotes 38 °F as the low. The inflatable tub's base chiller only cools; its hot-and-cold version costs $300 more. The acrylic tubs and the chiller sold alone both cool and heat.
What power do they need?
XR's chillers run on household 100–127 V power, and its manual rates the Super Chiller at 1,170 W input; its pages publish no figure for the 2025 chiller/heater. Sweaty Yeti's Plunge Max needs a 240 V, 60 A connection, per its order page.
What warranty comes with them?
XR's current product pages don't state one; its checkout offers paid 3- or 5-year protection plans. Sweaty Yeti's KEB Homes Limited Warranty is transferable, but its terms are available only on request.
Can I return one?
With XR, request a return in writing within 30 days of delivery and get a Return Authorization number; you pay both the original and the return shipping, taken out of the refund, and its standard refund policy says sale items can't be returned. With Sweaty Yeti, the deposit is refundable for five days after purchase; after that it isn't.
Indoors or outdoors?
XR says its acrylic tubs install in two steps, indoors or outdoors, and its chiller needs about 20 in of free space around it and air between 34 and 113 °F. The Plunge Max is an outdoor building; winterize its plumbing in freezing climates if it won't have continuous heat.
