Douk Audio F5 Single-Ended Class A Amplifier Review
A pure Class A single-ended tube power amp Douk Audio rates at 6W+6W, built on 6L6 and 6N1 tubes with tube-rolling sockets.

Our verdict
The F5 is a single-ended, pure Class A tube power amplifier that Douk Audio rates at 6W+6W into 4 or 8 ohm, built around a 6N1 driver and two 6L6 output tubes in pluggable sockets for tube rolling. As of this writing the 220V version is the only one Douk Audio lists as available, so US buyers on 120V mains should confirm compatibility first. A May 2025 forum account found it drove a pair of efficient speakers well, while other posters in the same thread questioned how low its bass actually extends.
- Best for
- Listeners with efficient passive speakers who want genuine single-ended Class A tube sound and will confirm mains voltage first.
- Skip if
- Your speakers are inefficient, you're on 120V power and can't confirm a 220V-only unit will work, or you need digital or phono inputs.
Why 3.8/5: Lifted by a documented pure Class A design with named replacement tubes for both types, large transformers and a full parameter list. Held back by $459.99 for 6W+6W, a 110V version listed as unavailable, an input sensitivity printed in mW and no distortion figure.
The Douk Audio F5 is a vacuum tube power amplifier priced at $459.99, built around a pure Class A, single-ended circuit rather than the push-pull designs common at this price. The printed manual lists dimensions of 230 x 205 x 160mm and a weight of 6.57kg net, 8.0kg boxed, with a front-panel volume knob and a rear input selector switching between two groups of stereo RCA inputs. It carries its own gain stage, not a passive power block, so it can run directly from a source without a separate preamp.
Douk Audio names a 6N1 double-triode for voltage amplification and two 6L6 tubes for single-ended power amplification, rating output at 6W+6W into 4 or 8 ohm speakers. The sockets are pluggable, so the 6L6 output tubes can be swapped for 6P3P, EL34, 6550 or KT66, and the 6N1 driver for 6H1 or ECC85, to change the voicing without rewiring anything. Douk Audio's own copy describes the resulting sound as warm and rich with a transparent, smooth treble, the maker's own characterization rather than anything verified here by ear. The same listing points to a silver aluminum alloy chassis, a 0.35mm imported iron core, an ALPS potentiometer and imported capacitors as the build's other selling points.
Behind the tubes sits a 150W power transformer feeding a 15W ultra-linear output transformer, wound with what Douk Audio calls a cross-composite method meant to reduce leakage inductance. The manual lists a frequency response of 35Hz-25kHz, a signal-to-noise ratio of 88dB, input sensitivity around 750 millivolts and input impedance of 100K. A May 2025 AudioKarma thread includes some skepticism about that frequency response: several posters guessed the low-end rolloff starts well above 35Hz and traced the limit to the size and cost of the output transformer rather than to the tube types themselves.
One detail matters more than most for US buyers: Douk Audio's product page and the printed manual both list working voltage as AC 110V or 220V, but both currently mark the 110V version as unavailable. That leaves only the 220V unit in stock as of this writing, so anyone on standard 120V household power should confirm with Douk Audio whether a step-up converter is required before ordering, rather than assuming the amplifier will simply work. The box contains only the amplifier and a power cord, no remote, since every control lives on the front and rear panels. The manual's quick-start steps also say to power down by turning the volume knob fully counterclockwise before unplugging the cord, a sequencing habit worth keeping with any tube gear.
The same AudioKarma thread, started in May 2025, gives one buyer's account in more detail. The poster described it as very well packed with a polished top panel, noted unused screw holes for tube protectors that did not ship with the unit, and reported a warm, detailed sound with power described as ample for their JM Cobalt speakers, which they called fairly efficient. The amplifier replaced a solid-state power amp paired with a separate tube preamp in their system, and the poster said they were very impressed with the F5 on its own.
Later posts in the same thread debated how low the F5 actually reaches: one contributor estimated real-world output closer to 5.5W per channel rather than the rated 6W, and another suggested the response is likely already down 10dB by 35Hz. The practical takeaway for a shopper is that this amplifier wants speakers efficient enough to play loud on single-digit wattage, and anyone wanting to add a powered subwoofer has no preamp-level output to feed it from, only the speaker-level connection.
For comparison, Douk Audio's own F3 sells for $299.99 and uses smaller PL84 output and 6DK6 driver tubes rated at 3.2W per channel, well under the F5's 6W, but runs on universal AC 100-240V power with no availability caveat. The F5 costs $160 more and roughly doubles the rated power with a larger transformer set, at the cost of the current 110V supply gap. On policy, Douk Audio's current pages list a 30-day return window that needs pre-approval, a 24-month warranty against manufacturing defects, and shipping that includes duties and customs in the checkout price.

How it compares
The Nobsound F2 Single-Ended Class A Tube Amplifier review ($349.99) is $110.00 cheaper and the closest alternative: a single-ended Class A amplifier with two RCA inputs, banana outputs and rollable tubes. Its page rates 9W x 2 RMS into 8Ω against the F5's 6W+6W, lists THD under 1% at 1kHz and AC 110V-120V / 220V-240V input, but it is the bigger, heavier unit at 310 x 225 x 200mm and 8.60kg against 230 x 205 x 160mm and 6.57kg here. The Douk Audio F3 Single-Ended Class A Amplifier review ($299.99) is $160.00 cheaper still: 3.2W x 2, 2.5kg, AC 100-240V and a wood cabinet with a spectrum display, and its page says other tubes may damage it. On its own page the F5 offers a 150W power transformer, a 15W output transformer, 35Hz-25kHz and named replacements for both tube types (6P3P, EL34, 6550 or KT66 for the 6L6; 6H1 or ECC85 for the 6N1).
The Nobsound DA7 Vacuum Tube Power Amplifier review ($349.99 for US, UK and EU destinations) is also $110.00 cheaper there and a different kind of tube amplifier: four 6P1 and three 6N1 tubes, 12W x 2 into 4Ω and 8W x 2 into 8Ω, Bluetooth 5.3/5.0, USB and dual RCA inputs, and AC 220V only on its page. The F5 offers two analog inputs and nothing else, with no Bluetooth or USB. Both pages raise the same voltage question for US buyers: the F5 lists AC 110V as not available currently and the DA7 lists 220V only, so a buyer on 120V mains should ask the store whether a step-up converter is needed before ordering either.
Shipping, returns and warranty
- Shipping: Douk Audio's current shipping page says orders are generally processed no later than the next business day and arrive in 2-8 business days, with duties, taxes and customs fees included in the checkout price unless noted otherwise.
- Older shipping terms are still online: airmail at 10-25 days for parcels under 2 kg, DHL, UPS or FedEx at 5-8 days above that, and a line saying the store is not responsible for import duties. Check the delivery estimate and any duties at checkout.
- Returns: ask within 30 days of delivery and wait for approval before sending anything; an approved return has to ship within 7 days. Items need all packaging and accessories and no excessive wear, or the store can refuse them or refund part of the price. Refunds go to the original payment method after inspection.
- Not refunded: original and expedited shipping, duties, taxes and customs charges, unless the law requires it or the store made the error. The return page does not say who pays return postage, and the older refund page excludes mistaken orders and change-of-mind returns from free after-sale service.
- Warranty: 24 months from purchase for manufacturing defects, with free repair, a replacement unit and free shipping both ways for covered repairs. Drops, liquid, DIY repairs, lightning, extreme temperatures and misuse are excluded (partial fees may apply), and damage from weak packing on the way back may not be covered. The older refund page still says 1 year.
- Seller: the site is run by Shenzhen Anba Technology Co., Ltd (Shenzhen, China) and HONGKONG LONGSHENG Import and Export Trading Co., Limited (Hong Kong); support is by email at [email protected]. These terms cover orders placed on doukaudio.com; other sellers apply their own.
For this product, the page has a 'Shipping to' selector (US, UK, EU, AU, Other) and shows Free Shipping, 2-8 Days Arrival, 30-Day Return and 2-Year Warranty badges near the price; the store's option data prices 'Other' at $479.99 against $459.99 for the other four.
What we liked
- Genuine single-ended, pure Class A circuit: a 6N1 double-triode driver feeding two 6L6 output tubes, with pluggable sockets for tube rolling.
- 150W power transformer feeding a 15W ultra-linear output transformer wound to reduce leakage inductance, per Douk Audio's spec sheet.
- A May 2025 AudioKarma forum account reported enough power to drive efficient JM Cobalt speakers and described the sound as warm and detailed.
- Compact desktop footprint (230 x 205 x 160mm, 6.57kg) with a two-input RCA selector built into the chassis.
Worth noting
- Only 6W+6W of rated output, so it needs efficient speakers; the same forum thread estimated real-world output closer to 5.5W per channel.
- Douk Audio currently lists the 220V version only; the 110V version is marked unavailable, so US buyers should confirm voltage before ordering.
- Forum posters questioned the published 35Hz-25kHz frequency response, guessing the low end rolls off well before 35Hz.
- No digital inputs, phono stage or Bluetooth; it accepts two analog RCA sources only.
Questions before you buy
How much power does the F5 put out?
Douk Audio rates it at 6W+6W into 4 or 8 ohm speakers, in a pure Class A, single-ended configuration backed by a 150W power transformer.
Can I use it on standard US power?
Douk Audio's product page and printed manual both list the working voltage as AC 110V or 220V, but note the 110V version is not currently available. Buyers on 120V mains should confirm with Douk Audio before ordering.
Can the tubes be swapped?
Yes. The pluggable sockets accept 6P3P, EL34, 6550 or KT66 in place of the 6L6 output tubes, and 6H1 or ECC85 in place of the 6N1 driver, per the manual.
What's in the box?
Douk Audio's manual lists a packing contents of one amplifier and one power cord; no remote is included since the unit has its own front-panel controls.
Has anyone outside Douk Audio reviewed it?
A May 2025 AudioKarma forum thread has one buyer's first impressions (well packed, warm and detailed sound, enough power for efficient speakers) along with other posters debating how far the amp's bass response actually extends.

What we couldn’t verify
- The 6W+6W rating is Douk Audio's figure with no distortion level; the page lists output impedance of 4Ω/8Ω without saying which load the rating applies to.
- Voltage: the page prints 'AC 110V (not available currently) / 220V'; it does not say when 110V returns or whether a converter is supported for 120V mains.
- Input sensitivity is printed as '750mW', a power unit rather than a voltage; this review's earlier text wrote 750 millivolts, and the page does not say what signal level the amplifier needs.
- 35Hz-25kHz and an SNR of 88db are printed with no tolerance (such as ±3dB) or test conditions; this review cites a forum thread that questions the low end, and the page gives no -3dB point.
- The page calls the sound 'warm and rich' and says the output transformer's winding reduces leakage inductance; those are the store's claims, with no measurement.
- The packing list is the amplifier and a power cord; it does not list the tubes (6L6 x2 + 6N1 x1 are the stated tube model) or say which plug the cord has, which matters for a 220V-only unit.
- Price: $459.99 is the US, UK, EU and AU option of the 'Shipping to' selector; the store's option data prices 'Other' at $479.99. The page text shows $459.99.
