Our verdict

The C100 PRO is a $239.99 mini digital player, streamer and preamp for people who want hi-res files to bypass the computer entirely. Its ESS9038 DAC reaches 0.0005% distortion and 119dB SNR, handles WAV to 768kHz and DSD512, and streams over Bluetooth 5.0 with APTX-HD / LDAC. RCA and balanced XLR outputs, a 2.4-inch OLED screen, touch controls and a retro VU meter round out a compact package that still needs an amplifier or active speakers to sing.

Best for
Hi-res listeners who want DSD512 and 768kHz file playback, Bluetooth streaming and balanced outputs in a desktop-sized player.

You need an all-in-one with built-in amplification, or you rely on multichannel DTS playback.

Why 3.8/5: Lifted by a deep parameter table, a wide input and file range (SD card, U-disk, hard disk, Bluetooth, optical), balanced XLR out and a display with a remote. Held back by a title that says 384K against 768KHz in the table, no computer-USB input, and $239.99 for one ESS9038 chip.

The Douk Audio C100 PRO is a mini digital audio player, music streamer and preamp priced at $239.99. It is a source component: it reads or receives digital audio, converts it with an ESS9038 decoding chip, and feeds your amplifier, active speakers or headphones downstream through RCA and balanced XLR outputs and digital coaxial and optical outputs.

The converter section is the core of the value here. The ESS9038 achieves 0.0005% ultra-low distortion and a 119dB signal-to-noise ratio, and the player supports WAV digital audio up to 32-bit / 768kHz plus ISO, DFF and DSF files up to DSD512 on the PRO model. Standard FLAC goes to 192kHz / 24-bit, APE and MP3 to 48kHz / 16-bit, and DTS is supported with two-channel front left and right output. On the wireless side, a CSR8675 Bluetooth chip covers APTX-HD and LDAC at 24-bit / 96kHz for lossless-quality transmission, and Bluetooth input can display lyrics on the screen in sync.

Input options go well beyond streaming: optical, U-disk, hard-disk and SD card inputs all feed the player directly, with plug-and-play reading of digital files. The C100 PRO runs eight languages (Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Vietnamese, Spanish and Russian), and the VU meter can display either internal signals or external sounds via microphone pickup. A 2.4-inch OLED screen shows working status, touch buttons and an included remote handle control, and screws on the bottom adjust the VU meter sensitivity. All outputs work at the same time, and the volume button sets the level for every output together.

Douk Audio notes three practical points: the remote ships without its 2 x AAA batteries; DTS output is limited to two channels; and because all outputs play simultaneously, you will want to plan your connections accordingly. The compact chassis is designed for desktop use where a full-size player will not fit.

How it compares

At $239.99 the C100 PRO sits $30.00 below the Ampapa Q1 ($269.99) and $90.00 above the Douk Audio DAC-Q11 ($149.99). Unlike both, its page lists no computer-USB audio input: it plays files from SD cards, U-disks and hard disks (WAV to 768KHz/32Bit, DSD512, FLAC to 192KHz/24Bit), streams over Bluetooth 5.0 with APTX-HD and LDAC, and takes optical in. The Q1 and Q11 list USB inputs and a two-chip switch; the C100 PRO uses a single ESS9038 and lists a 2.4-inch OLED, a VU meter and balanced XLR outputs, where the Q1 has balanced TRS and the Q11 only RCA and AUX.

The Douk Audio Q100 at $499.99, which is $260.00 more, lists a USB-C input, AES, Bluetooth with LDAC, XLR and RCA outputs, an SNR of 124dB or better against the C100 PRO's 118dB to 119dB, and a built-in AC supply. Who it suits: the C100 PRO fits a listener who wants to play files from a drive or card, with a remote and a display, and feed an amplifier or active speakers over balanced XLR or RCA. The Q11 and Q1 suit a PC-based desk; the Q100 suits the larger budget.

Shipping, returns and warranty

  • Shipping: Douk Audio's current shipping page says orders are generally processed no later than the next business day and arrive in 2-8 business days, with duties, taxes and customs fees included in the checkout price unless noted otherwise.
  • Older shipping terms are still online: airmail at 10-25 days for parcels under 2 kg, DHL, UPS or FedEx at 5-8 days above that, and a line saying the store is not responsible for import duties. Check the delivery estimate and any duties at checkout.
  • Returns: ask within 30 days of delivery and wait for approval before sending anything; an approved return has to ship within 7 days. Items need all packaging and accessories and no excessive wear, or the store can refuse them or refund part of the price. Refunds go to the original payment method after inspection.
  • Not refunded: original and expedited shipping, duties, taxes and customs charges, unless the law requires it or the store made the error. The return page does not say who pays return postage, and the older refund page excludes mistaken orders and change-of-mind returns from free after-sale service.
  • Warranty: 24 months from purchase for manufacturing defects, with free repair, a replacement unit and free shipping both ways for covered repairs. Drops, liquid, DIY repairs, lightning, extreme temperatures and misuse are excluded (partial fees may apply), and damage from weak packing on the way back may not be covered. The older refund page still says 1 year.
  • Seller: the site is run by Shenzhen Anba Technology Co., Ltd (Shenzhen, China) and HONGKONG LONGSHENG Import and Export Trading Co., Limited (Hong Kong); support is by email at [email protected]. These terms cover orders placed on doukaudio.com; other sellers apply their own.

For this product, the page lists shipping to US, UK, EU, AU and Other (a destination list, with no warehouses named) and shows Free Shipping, 2-8 Days Arrival, 30-Day Return and 2-Year Warranty badges near the price.

What we liked

  • ESS9038 decoding with 0.0005% distortion and 119dB SNR puts serious converter hardware in a mini chassis
  • Plays WAV up to 32-bit / 768kHz and DSD512 files, far beyond what a typical CD player can manage
  • Flexible inputs: Bluetooth 5.0 with APTX-HD / LDAC, optical, U-disk, hard-disk and SD card, all without a computer
  • Balanced XLR and RCA analog outputs plus coaxial and optical digital outs cover nearly any downstream setup
  • Retro VU meter with adjustable sensitivity and mic pickup option decorates the system while the 2.4-inch OLED shows full status

Worth noting

  • It is a source and preamp, not an amplifier: you still need powered speakers or a power amp to make sound
  • DTS files are supported only as a two-channel front left/right downmix
  • The remote's 2 x AAA batteries are not included, and all outputs play simultaneously at one shared volume

Questions before you buy

Can the C100 PRO play music without a computer?

Yes. It reads U-disk, hard-disk and SD card inputs directly, so you can play digital files plug-and-play, and it also streams over Bluetooth 5.0 with APTX-HD and LDAC.

What is the maximum file quality supported?

The PRO model handles WAV up to 32-bit / 768kHz and ISO, DFF and DSF files up to DSD512, plus FLAC to 192kHz / 24-bit. Digital outputs carry up to 24-bit / 192kHz with DoP64.

Does it have balanced outputs?

Yes. It provides stereo RCA and balanced XLR analog outputs, plus coaxial and optical digital outputs. All outputs work simultaneously at one shared volume setting.

What is the return and warranty policy?

Douk Audio's current policy pages give you 30 days from delivery to request a return, which Douk must approve before you send the item back (within 7 days of approval); original shipping fees and duties aren't refunded. Its warranty covers manufacturing defects for 24 months from purchase, with free repair or replacement.

What we couldn’t verify

  • Price: $239.99 applies to the US, UK, EU and AU shipping-to options; the Other option is $249.99, and the page does not say why.
  • Title versus table: the page title says '384K DSD' while its Parameters list WAV up to 768KHz/32Bit and DSD512, the C100 PRO column. The store's listing data has C100 and C100 PRO columns, and its C100 column (WAV 384KHz/32Bit, DSD256) matches the title. The review follows the PRO column.
  • Packing list: the page lists 2 optical cables; the store's listing data lists 1 and calls the player C100/C100 PRO.
  • SNR: the features say 119dB, while the Parameters give RCA at 118dB or more and balanced at 119dB or more. 0.0005% distortion and the noise figures have no stated test conditions.
  • The page says APTX-HD/LDAC at 24Bit/96KHz give 'high-definition lossless transmission' and that the sound 'far exceeds traditional CD players'. Both are maker claims, not measurements.
  • Supply and remote: the page lists a DC 12V adapter but no plug type for each region, and says the remote's two AAA batteries are not included.
