Douk Audio MC5-BX Mini Stereo 4-Channel Audio Mixer Review
A pocket line mixer with four 3.5mm inputs and one 3.5mm output, each channel with its own level knob. Run it in passive mode with no power at all, or active over USB-C for a stronger, amplified mix.

Our verdict
The MC5-BX is a $33.29 no-frills answer to mixing several 3.5mm sources: four inputs, independent level knobs, one output, and a passive mode that needs no power at all for the cleanest possible path. Flip to active USB power when you need a stronger signal. It is line-level gear only, so turntables and mics are out - but for combining a phone, computer, console and player, it is hard to beat at the price.
- Best for
- Small setups that need to blend several 3.5mm line sources with individual level control on a tiny budget.
- Skip if
- You want to connect a turntable, microphone or balanced gear - the MC5-BX takes standard line signals only.
The Douk Audio MC5-BX is a mini stereo audio mixer priced at $33.29. It offers four groups of 3.5mm inputs and one 3.5mm AUX output, designed to blend signals from CD players, instruments, portable recording devices and video playback devices into a single feed.
The mixer works in two modes. In active mode you connect independent USB power (Type-C, DC 5V at 0.5A or more) and the built-in audio amp chip amplifies the mixed signal for a larger output with a 3-ohm output impedance. In passive mode no power is required at all - the MC5-BX works as pure resistive attenuation with a 50K-ohm input impedance and 4.7K-ohm output impedance, and the output is a little attenuated, which is the trade-off for the cleanest possible signal path.
On the front panel, one main output volume knob joins four independent input volume knobs, so each source level can be set separately with no interference between channels. The metal casing provides better shielding, and the flexible circuit mixes signals without degrading sound quality. Two warm tips from the manufacturer: in active mode, never share a power supply with your audio device or common ground noise will appear, and keep wireless devices such as Wi-Fi routers and phones away from the unit to avoid noise. Also note it only supports standard audio signals such as CD, DVD and phone sources - phono turntables and microphones cannot connect directly.
Douk Audio ships worldwide with free and expedited shipping options at varying cost by country. Packages under 2kg travel by airmail in roughly 10-25 days, while orders over 2kg ship via DHL/UPS/FedEx in about 5-8 days, and any import duties or customs charges are the customer's responsibility. Returns are free within 30 days for a full refund, and every item carries a 1-year warranty. Exclusions cover orders placed by mistake, man-made damage or misuse, a change of mind, and anything outside the warranty terms.
What we liked
- Mixes up to four stereo sources with fully independent input volume knobs plus a main output knob
- Two working modes: fully passive (no power, pure resistive attenuation) or active with USB power for an amplified, stronger signal
- Active mode runs from any USB Type-C supply rated 5V at 0.5A or more
- Metal casing provides better shielding, and the compact size is easy to carry anywhere
- Designed to provide the highest sonic quality even at maximum output level
Worth noting
- No DC 5V power adapter is supplied for active mode
- In active mode it must use its own USB power supply, not one shared with the audio device, or common ground noise appears
- Line-level sources only - phono turntables and microphones cannot connect directly, and passive-mode output is slightly attenuated
Questions before you buy
What is the difference between active and passive mode?
Active mode requires independent USB power and uses a built-in amp chip to output a stronger signal; passive mode needs no power and works as pure resistive attenuation with slightly reduced output.
What can I connect to the inputs?
Standard line-level devices such as CD and DVD players, phones, computers and portable players; phono turntables and microphones cannot connect directly.
Why does the maker insist on a separate power supply?
In active mode, sharing a power supply with the audio device causes common ground noise - use an independent USB supply.
How do I control the mix?
Each of the four inputs has its own volume knob with no interference between channels, plus one main output volume knob.
