Douk Audio U2 PRO XU316 DDC Reclocker Review
A palm-sized USB DDC outputting optical, coaxial and I2S simultaneously, with the XMOS XU316 chip handling PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 and a switchable UAC mode for consoles.

Our verdict
The Douk Audio U2 PRO is a flexible digital front end for $69.99: XMOS XU316 USB conversion to optical, coaxial and I2S at once, PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz, DSD512, and a UAC switch that covers both consoles and high-res playback. The expandable oscillator design allows a serious clock upgrade for DIYers, and three clock versions are offered. Just budget the soldering if you plan to swap oscillators, and remember it is a stereo-only device.
- Best for
- Adding a modern USB input to DACs, amps and AV receivers that lack one, with I2S and a user-upgradeable clock for DIY setups
- Skip if
- You need multichannel output, or you want clock upgrades without any soldering
Why 3.7/5: Lifted by an I2S output, a UAC switch, a replaceable oscillator with documented sizes and a $69.99 Standard price. Held back by TXCO and Femtosecond versions that are sold out, two conflicting oscillator lists, and jitter and THD figures with no test setup.
The Douk Audio U2 PRO is a USB digital interface — a DDC — priced at $69.99. It converts the USB signal from a PC, Mac, phone or Raspberry Pi into clean outputs of optical, coaxial and I2S simultaneously, feeding a stable, jitter-free digital signal to classic DACs, amplifiers and AV receivers that lack a USB input.
The core is the XMOS XU316 chip with asynchronous transmission, which supports PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 — enough for high-end music streaming and professional playback. The UAC mode switch broadens compatibility: 1.0 mode offers plug-and-play, driver-free support for consoles like PS4, PS5 and Switch, while 2.0 mode enables high-resolution audio. Real-time PCM/DSD indicators make it easy to monitor sample rates and formats.
Inside there is room to upgrade: the default 24.000MHz ±20PPM 5032 active oscillator can be replaced with a preferred high-precision clock to reduce jitter further. The swap is not pluggable and requires soldering, with DIP-4P rectangular plug-in or 5030 SMD active oscillators as the replacement options. The unit is pocket-sized and USB-powered, and ships with a USB-C to USB-A/C cable.
Driver notes are worth reading before purchase: Windows 10/11 runs driver-free for PCM up to 384kHz, but higher sampling rates and DSD require driver installation; macOS is driver-free; Android and iOS are supported. Windows 7/8 and general-purpose Linux are not recommended, though Linux-based audio systems like Daphile, Volumio and ROON are supported. The unit supports only 2.0-channel stereo — no 5.1, 7.1 or Dolby formats.

How it compares
At $69.99 (Standard version) the U2 PRO costs $13.00 more than the Douk Audio U2 ($56.99). The extra buys, per the pages, an I2S output beside optical and coaxial, PCM to 768kHz/32bit and DSD512 over I2S, a UAC 1.0/2.0 switch for consoles and a replaceable oscillator. The U2 lists optical and coaxial only, PCM to 192kHz/24-bit and DSD64 over DoP, in a 40 x 52 x 20mm, 45g body against the U2 PRO's 85 x 79 x 26mm and 220g. Both list THD+N 0.000008%.
The Douk Audio U2-PRO-FC at $249.99, $180.00 more, adds Crystek CCHD-575 femtosecond oscillators and a dedicated USB-C power input, and carries a pre-sale tag; its page lists jitter as '≥ 69 ps (typical)' against the U2 PRO's 75ps (typical). The U2 PRO page's own TXCO ($99.99) and Femtosecond ($199.99) versions showed sold out on Oct 25, 2026. Who it suits: the U2 PRO fits a DAC with an I2S input or a console-to-hi-fi chain on a budget, and a tinkerer who can solder a new oscillator. The U2 suits a DAC or receiver with only optical or coaxial input; the FC suits those who want the factory-fitted femtosecond clock.
Shipping, returns and warranty
- Shipping: Douk Audio's current shipping page says orders are generally processed no later than the next business day and arrive in 2-8 business days, with duties, taxes and customs fees included in the checkout price unless noted otherwise.
- Older shipping terms are still online: airmail at 10-25 days for parcels under 2 kg, DHL, UPS or FedEx at 5-8 days above that, and a line saying the store is not responsible for import duties. Check the delivery estimate and any duties at checkout.
- Returns: ask within 30 days of delivery and wait for approval before sending anything; an approved return has to ship within 7 days. Items need all packaging and accessories and no excessive wear, or the store can refuse them or refund part of the price. Refunds go to the original payment method after inspection.
- Not refunded: original and expedited shipping, duties, taxes and customs charges, unless the law requires it or the store made the error. The return page does not say who pays return postage, and the older refund page excludes mistaken orders and change-of-mind returns from free after-sale service.
- Warranty: 24 months from purchase for manufacturing defects, with free repair, a replacement unit and free shipping both ways for covered repairs. Drops, liquid, DIY repairs, lightning, extreme temperatures and misuse are excluded (partial fees may apply), and damage from weak packing on the way back may not be covered. The older refund page still says 1 year.
- Seller: the site is run by Shenzhen Anba Technology Co., Ltd (Shenzhen, China) and HONGKONG LONGSHENG Import and Export Trading Co., Limited (Hong Kong); support is by email at [email protected]. These terms cover orders placed on doukaudio.com; other sellers apply their own.
For this product, the page lists shipping from US, UK, EU, AU and China and shows Free Shipping, 2-8 Days Arrival, 30-Day Return and 2-Year Warranty badges near the price, with an Oscillator Type selector (Standard, TXCO, Femtosecond).
What we liked
- Feeds classic DACs, amps and AV receivers without USB inputs a clean, jitter-free digital signal from any USB source
- XMOS XU316 asynchronous processing supports very high-resolution files — PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512
- Optical, coaxial and I2S outputs work simultaneously, so multiple downstream devices can be connected at once
- The UAC mode switch gives plug-and-play console compatibility in 1.0 mode and full high-res support in 2.0
- Ample internal space lets DIYers solder in a preferred high-precision clock to reduce jitter further
Worth noting
- Oscillator replacement is not pluggable — it requires soldering, and replacements must be DIP-4P rectangular plug-in or 5030 SMD active oscillators
- It only supports 2.0-channel stereo audio; multichannel formats such as 5.1, 7.1 and Dolby are not supported
- Windows 10/11 is driver-free only up to 384kHz PCM — higher rates and DSD need the driver, and Windows 7/8 or general-purpose Linux is not recommended
Questions before you buy
What formats does the U2 PRO support?
PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512 over the XMOS XU316 asynchronous USB chip. On Windows 10/11, playback is driver-free up to 384kHz PCM, with higher rates and DSD requiring the driver.
Can I upgrade the oscillator?

What we couldn’t verify
- Price: $69.99 is the Standard version, the one the page opens on. The TXCO Version is $99.99 and the Femtosecond Version $199.99; the store's option data lists both as sold out in every region on Oct 25, 2026. The Standard version keeps the default 24.000MHz oscillator.
- Oscillator swap: the Warm tips list DIP-4P plug-in and 5030 SMD active oscillators; the FAQ lists 5032 SMD or DIP14 at 24.000MHz and 1.8-3.3V. The review followed the Warm tips, and the page does not name a recommended part.
- Jitter of 75ps (typical) and THD+N 0.000008% have no test setup. 'Jitter-free', 'virtually no latency' and 'pristine lossless audio' are maker claims, not measurements.
- Version naming: the page spells the option 'TXCO Version' and the review wrote TCXO. The page does not say what the TXCO or Femtosecond parts are, or whether the Femtosecond Version matches the separate U2-PRO-FC listing.
- Power: DC 5V over USB-C with no current rating, and no power supply in the box.
- Driver source: the page text says to scan the QR code on the unit or use the Douk Audio website, while the store's listing data says to use the included USB drive; the packing list has no USB drive.
- Systems: the Parameters list PS5 and Switch but not PS4, although the features text and a later product section name PS4; Windows 7/8 and general-purpose Linux are 'not recommended'.
