Douk Audio U3 Class A Headphone Amplifier Review
A $36.99 mini headphone amp whose output transistor runs in pure Class A from a boosted 26V rail, delivering 1300mW or more into 32 ohm with a pluggable NE5532 op-amp for DIY rolling.

Our verdict
The U3 is a $36.99 mini headphone amplifier with a purist twist: its output transistor runs in genuine Class A from a 26V internal rail, delivering 1300mW or more into 32 ohm to drive headphones from 18 to 600 ohm. A pluggable NE5532 op-amp keeps the DIY rolling door open, and the wide DC 5-20V input runs off common chargers and power banks. Bring your own 5W-plus supply, and note that the input is RCA-only.
- Best for
- Budget headphone listeners who want Class A drive for high-impedance cans and a socket for op-amp rolling.
- Skip if
- You want a plug-in-and-go box with an adapter included, or you need digital and 3.5mm inputs.
Why 3.6/5: Lifted by a wide DC 5-20V input range, 1300mW or more at 32Ω and a price that is low for the power listed. Held back by a single RCA input, no power adapter, and Class A and noise claims with no test conditions, plus a power rating with no distortion figure.
The Douk Audio U3 is a mini Class A headphone amplifier priced at $36.99, built for desktop and home stereo use. It measures just 67 x 93 x 30mm and weighs 169g, accepts a stereo RCA input, and outputs through a 6.35mm jack with a 6.35mm-to-3.5mm adapter included for smaller headphones.
The circuit design is the story. An innovative voltage-boost arrangement lets the U3 accept a wide DC 5-20V input while always running its amplifier stage at a high 26V rail, with a correspondingly excellent background noise figure. Combined with the wide frequency response extension and strong transient response, Douk Audio describes the sound as pure and transparent with a good dynamic range. The output stage uses a 1300mA high-current transistor working in Class A status alongside an original TI NE5532 op-amp for what the company calls warm, delicate, full and mellow sound.
Power is quoted at 1300mW or more into 32 ohm, and the U3 is rated for headphones from 18 to 600 ohm, which Douk Audio lists as easily handling models like the HD580/HD600/HD650, K701/K702/Q701, DT880/T70/T90 and SR225/SR325/RS1e. The NE5532 sits in a pluggable socket so different op-amps can be swapped in for extra DIY playability. Signal-to-noise ratio is 110dB or better, and the maximum output amplitude is 25V.
One shopping note: the box does not include a power adapter. Douk Audio recommends an original high-quality supply above 5W, which means more than 1A if you use DC 5V or more than 0.5A at DC 12V. The package contains the U3 amplifier, a USB-to-DC cable and the 6.35mm-to-3.5mm headphone adapter.

How it compares
At $36.99 the U3 sits $3.00 below the Nobsound P10 ($39.99). The U3 page lists 1300mW or more at 32Ω for 18-600Ω headphones; the P10 page lists 1100mW or more for 24-600Ω; both list an SNR of 110dB or better. The P10 takes RCA and 3.5mm inputs, has 6.35mm and 3.5mm outputs and comes with a 5V adapter. The U3 takes RCA only, has one 6.35mm output with a 3.5mm adapter, and ships without a power supply.
The Douk Audio U3 PRO costs $18.00 more at $54.99. It adds a 3.5mm AUX input beside RCA, 3.5mm and 6.35mm outputs that work together, 1500mW or more at 32Ω and a pluggable OP42 in an OP+BUF design, but it takes DC 5V only (its page warns that more than 5V damages it) where the U3 accepts DC 5-20V. The Douk Audio U10 at $49.99, $13.00 more, adds two 6A2 tubes and 3.5mm and RCA inputs. Who it suits: the U3 fits a budget desk where the source has RCA outputs and a spare 5V to 20V supply is on hand. The P10 suits a buyer who wants an adapter in the box; the U3 PRO and U10 suit those who want a second input or a tube stage.
Shipping, returns and warranty
- Shipping: Douk Audio's current shipping page says orders are generally processed no later than the next business day and arrive in 2-8 business days, with duties, taxes and customs fees included in the checkout price unless noted otherwise.
- Older shipping terms are still online: airmail at 10-25 days for parcels under 2 kg, DHL, UPS or FedEx at 5-8 days above that, and a line saying the store is not responsible for import duties. Check the delivery estimate and any duties at checkout.
- Returns: ask within 30 days of delivery and wait for approval before sending anything; an approved return has to ship within 7 days. Items need all packaging and accessories and no excessive wear, or the store can refuse them or refund part of the price. Refunds go to the original payment method after inspection.
- Not refunded: original and expedited shipping, duties, taxes and customs charges, unless the law requires it or the store made the error. The return page does not say who pays return postage, and the older refund page excludes mistaken orders and change-of-mind returns from free after-sale service.
- Warranty: 24 months from purchase for manufacturing defects, with free repair, a replacement unit and free shipping both ways for covered repairs. Drops, liquid, DIY repairs, lightning, extreme temperatures and misuse are excluded (partial fees may apply), and damage from weak packing on the way back may not be covered. The older refund page still says 1 year.
- Seller: the site is run by Shenzhen Anba Technology Co., Ltd (Shenzhen, China) and HONGKONG LONGSHENG Import and Export Trading Co., Limited (Hong Kong); support is by email at [email protected]. These terms cover orders placed on doukaudio.com; other sellers apply their own.
For this product, the page lists shipping to US, UK, EU, AU and Other (a destination list, with no warehouses named) and shows Free Shipping, 2-8 Days Arrival, 30-Day Return and 2-Year Warranty badges near the price.
What we liked

What we couldn’t verify
- Output amplitude: the review's pros and body say a 25V maximum output amplitude. The page's Parameters say 26V and its text says the circuit works at 26V, while the store's listing data lists 25V. The table shows both.
- Class A: the page says the 1300mA output transistor works 'in class A status' with 'ultra-low distortion' but gives no bias current, THD figure or test conditions. The 1300mA transistor and the 1300mW power figure are different quantities.
- SNR of 110dB or better and the 20-30KHz response have no test conditions, and the page gives no THD figure.
- Supply: no adapter is included; the page asks for a high-quality supply above 5W but names no plug size for the DC input.
