Douk Audio EQ5-TONE EQ Equalizer Bluetooth Review
A 5-band stereo equalizer and preamp with bands at 75Hz through 10kHz, each processed by its own op-amp, plus Bluetooth 5.0 streaming and twin 45mm VU meters. A bypass switch takes the EQ out of the signal path entirely.

Our verdict
The EQ5-TONE is a flexible desk equalizer at $89.99: five bands with individual op-amp buffering, Bluetooth 5.0, hands-on VU meters and a true bypass for honest comparisons. The balance control is a nice extra for correcting off-center imaging. Two habits to keep - power it from its own USB supply, and never connect both the RCA and AUX inputs at once.
- Best for
- Desktop listeners who want hands-on tone shaping, VU-meter charm and a Bluetooth input in one compact unit.
- Skip if
- You need far more EQ bands, or you cannot give it a dedicated USB power supply.
Why 3.6/5: Lifted by Bluetooth 5.0, twin 45mm VU meters, L/R balance and bypass in one small unit, and by the maker's power warnings on the page. Held back by no adapter in the box, no Bluetooth codec or SNR figure, and a price well above the plain EQ5 Mini.
The Douk Audio EQ5-TONE is a mini 5-band stereo equalizer and preamplifier priced at $89.99. It sits between your sources and amplifier, letting you compensate for speaker and room deficiencies by adjusting five frequency bands, while adding a pair of VU meters and a Bluetooth receiver to the desktop.
The equalizer splits the spectrum into five controls - 75Hz, 400Hz, 800Hz, 4kHz and 10kHz - and each band is processed by one op-amp independently, so adjusting one range does not smear the others. The maker positions it for correcting the defects of speakers and sound fields and modifying various sound sources. Bluetooth 5.0 input makes it a receiver as well, and the dual 45mm VU meters are driven by a dedicated driver chip with adjustable backlight, pointer speed and gain to match your space.
Held in the all-metal case are stereo RCA and 3.5mm AUX inputs (wired in parallel, so only one should be connected at a time), stereo RCA and 3.5mm outputs, a bypass mode that routes the signal directly from input to output without processing, and an L/R balance control to prevent the sound field from drifting off center. Power comes from USB (Type-C, DC 5V at 500mA or more) - no adapter is included, and a separate supply is important: sharing power with your audio source or using a computer port causes common ground noise. Note also that in bypass mode, the VU meters will not function unless the signal has been preamplified.

How it compares
At $89.99 the EQ5-TONE sits between the plain Douk Audio EQ5 Mini ($64.99, which is $25.00 less) and the Douk Audio D5 ($109.99, which is $20.00 more). Against the EQ5 Mini the extra money buys Bluetooth 5.0 input, twin 45mm VU meters and L/R balance. Both pages list five bands, a bypass mode and a THD (total harmonic distortion) of 0.003% at 1kHz, and neither box holds an adapter. The EQ5-TONE lists a 5Hz-20kHz response and a 15Ω output impedance, the EQ5 Mini 5Hz-154kHz and 47Ω. The D5 has a different first job: it switches four sources into one output or splits one source to four, with a headphone amplifier and a 5V adapter in the box, but its page lists no Bluetooth and no THD figure.
The Douk Audio EQ7 at $119.99, which is $30.00 more than the EQ5-TONE, is the step up for 7 bands (32Hz to 10kHz, ±10dB), a true balanced XLR output and dual VU meters, with an adapter in the box; its page lists no Bluetooth. Who it suits: the EQ5-TONE is for a desktop that wants five tone bands, meters and Bluetooth in one box and can supply its own clean 5V USB power. Skip it if you need more bands, a built-in adapter or a stated noise figure: the page gives no SNR.
Shipping, returns and warranty
- Shipping: Douk Audio's current shipping page says orders are generally processed no later than the next business day and arrive in 2-8 business days, with duties, taxes and customs fees included in the checkout price unless noted otherwise.
- Older shipping terms are still online: airmail at 10-25 days for parcels under 2 kg, DHL, UPS or FedEx at 5-8 days above that, and a line saying the store is not responsible for import duties. Check the delivery estimate and any duties at checkout.
- Returns: ask within 30 days of delivery and wait for approval before sending anything; an approved return has to ship within 7 days. Items need all packaging and accessories and no excessive wear, or the store can refuse them or refund part of the price. Refunds go to the original payment method after inspection.
- Not refunded: original and expedited shipping, duties, taxes and customs charges, unless the law requires it or the store made the error. The return page does not say who pays return postage, and the older refund page excludes mistaken orders and change-of-mind returns from free after-sale service.
- Warranty: 24 months from purchase for manufacturing defects, with free repair, a replacement unit and free shipping both ways for covered repairs. Drops, liquid, DIY repairs, lightning, extreme temperatures and misuse are excluded (partial fees may apply), and damage from weak packing on the way back may not be covered. The older refund page still says 1 year.
- Seller: the site is run by Shenzhen Anba Technology Co., Ltd (Shenzhen, China) and HONGKONG LONGSHENG Import and Export Trading Co., Limited (Hong Kong); support is by email at [email protected]. These terms cover orders placed on doukaudio.com; other sellers apply their own.
For this product, the page lists shipping to US, UK, EU, AU and Other (the Other option is priced $10.00 higher) and shows Free Shipping, 2-8 Days Arrival, 30-Day Return and 2-Year Warranty badges near the price.
What we liked
- Five separate EQ bands (75Hz, 400Hz, 800Hz, 4kHz, 10kHz), each processed by its own op-amp independently
- Bluetooth 5.0 input for wireless streaming without adding an external receiver
- Dual 45mm VU meters driven by a dedicated driver chip, with adjustable backlight, pointer speed and gain
- Bypass mode passes the signal untouched for honest A/B comparisons, plus a balance control to correct L/R imaging
- All-metal case with gold-plated I/O and knurled aluminum knobs for shielding and minimal signal loss
Worth noting
- Needs its own USB power supply - the maker warns against using a computer's USB port or sharing power with the audio source, which causes ground noise
- Stereo RCA and 3.5mm AUX inputs are wired in parallel, so connect only one input at a time to avoid signal mixing
- In bypass mode without preamplification the VU meters will not function, and no power adapter is included
Questions before you buy
What frequencies can I adjust?
Five bands: 75Hz, 400Hz, 800Hz, 4kHz and 10kHz, each processed by one op amp independently.
What does bypass mode do?
It turns off EQ preamplification so the signal outputs from IN to OUT directly without any processing - note that without preamplification in bypass mode, the VU meters will not function.
Can I connect both RCA and AUX inputs?
No - the stereo RCA and 3.5mm AUX inputs are in parallel and would work simultaneously, so connect only one input at a time to avoid signal mixing.
How should I power it?
Use a separate USB power supply (DC 5V, at least 500mA). Do not use a computer's USB port or share the supply with your audio source, as common ground noise will be caused.

What we couldn’t verify
- Price depends on the 'Shipping to' option: $89.99 for US, UK, EU and AU, $99.99 for Other. The page opens on US, so its visible text shows only $89.99.
- Power: the page says to use a separate USB supply at DC 5V (500mA or more) and lists no adapter or plug type in the packing list, so the buyer has to supply a clean 5V supply.
- 'High-quality wireless streaming' and 'enjoy HIFI music' over Bluetooth 5.0 are page claims; it lists no codec (SBC, AAC, aptX), range or latency figure.
- THD 0.003% at 1kHz and the 5Hz-20kHz response carry no tolerance or test setup, and the page gives no SNR or channel-separation figure.
- The page does not say how the Bluetooth input is selected against the RCA and 3.5mm AUX inputs, or whether Bluetooth works in bypass mode.
- Bypass: the page says audio passes without power but the VU meters then do not work 'if the signal hasn't been preamplified'; it does not say what 'preamplified' means here.
- Warranty: the 2-Year Warranty badge is all this product page says about cover; exclusions are on the store's warranty page (see the shared section).
